This article explains how to create a Skype account using a computer or mobile device. If you already have a Microsoft account, you can use it to log in to the Skype platform.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Computer
Step 1. Log in to the Skype website
Visit the URL https://www.skype.com/it/. You will be redirected to the main web page of the Skype site.
Step 2. Click the Login button
It is located in the upper right corner of the page. A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 3. Click on the Sign Up option
It is characterized by a blue link visible at the bottom of the drop-down menu that appeared, more precisely on the right of the item "New user on Skype?".
Step 4. Enter your mobile number
Type it in the "Phone number" text field.
Alternatively, you can use an email address by clicking on the link Use your e-mail address.
Step 5. Create the login password
Choose a password that is strong and easy to remember, then type in the "Create password" text field.
Step 6. Click the Next button
It is blue in color and located at the bottom of the page.
Step 7. Provide your first and last name
Type them in the "Name" and "Surname" fields respectively.
Step 8. Click the Next button
Step 9. Select the country where you reside
Click on the "Country / Region" drop-down menu, then click on the name of the country you are currently in.
Normally the Skype website is able to detect this information automatically based on browser data
Step 10. Enter the date of birth
Select the day, month and year you were born using the drop-down menus Day, Month And Year.
Step 11. Click the Next button
Step 12. Verify your account
Provide the code that Skype sent you to the mobile number or e-mail address you provided by typing it in the text field located in the center of the page. To retrieve the verification code in question, follow these instructions:
- SMS - launch the "Messages" app on your device, open the text message you received from Skype and take note of the four-digit code in the message.
- E-mail - open the e-mail message you received from the Microsoft "Account Team".
Step 13. Click the Next button
This will send the verification code and your Skype account will be complete. At this point you can use it to access the Skype platform from a computer, smartphone or tablet.
If you are asked to enter a second code displayed on the screen, do so and click on the button Come on to complete the account creation process.
Method 2 of 2: Mobile Devices
Step 1. Launch the Skype app
Select the corresponding icon characterized by the blue letter "S" placed on the white Skype logo.
If you have not yet downloaded the Skype app, you will need to do it now for free via the App Store or the Google Play Store, respectively in the case of an iOS or Android device
Step 2. Press the Create New Account button
It is located at the bottom of the screen. The account creation wizard screen will appear.
If you are currently logged in with another Skype account, tap your profile picture or press the button ☰, then select the item Go out before proceeding.
Step 3. Enter the phone number
Type it inside the text field displayed in the center of the screen.
- If you want to use the email address instead, tap the link Use your e-mail address located below the button Back, then enter the email address you want to use.
- You may need to provide your mobile number as well before you can start using Skype.
Step 4. Press the Next button
It is blue in color and located at the bottom of the screen.
Step 5. Add a password
Type in the "Create a password" text field. It will be the password you will need to use in order to log into Skype with your account.
Step 6. Press the Next button
Step 7. Enter your first and last name
Type them in the text fields "Name" and "Surname" respectively.
Step 8. Press the Next button
Step 9. Provide your date of birth
Tap the "Day" drop-down menu and select the day you were born, then repeat the step with the "Month" and "Year" drop-down menus to provide the month and year you were born.
Step 10. Press the Next button
Step 11. Verify your account
Based on the information you have provided (phone number or email address), the verification process will be different:
- SMS - launch the "Messages" app on your device, open the text message you received from Skype and take note of the four-digit code in the message. At this point, type the code in the appropriate text field "Enter the code".
- E-mail - open the e-mail message you received from the Microsoft "Account Team" and make a note of the four-digit PIN code in it. At this point, type the code in the appropriate text field "Enter the code".
Step 12. Press the Next button
This will confirm the correctness of the mobile number or email address you provided and complete the Skype account creation process. At this point the configuration page of the Skype app will be displayed.
If you did not create your account by providing your mobile number, you will be prompted to enter and verify it now before you can continue
Step 13. Customize the Skype app
You can choose to select the link Jump, located in the upper right corner of the screen, to skip the Skype application customization procedure and directly access the program's user interface. Alternatively, you can perform the initial setup by following these instructions:
- Select a theme (Clear or Dark);
- Press the button twice →;
- Authorize the Skype app to have access to the device contacts by pressing the button OK or Allow when required;
- Press the button again →, if necessary.
