This article explains how to know when a user takes a screenshot of a message (called a "snap") you sent them via the Snapchat app.
Steps
Step 1. Look for the notification
If you have activated "push" notifications for the Snapchat app, you will see the message "[Username] has taken a screenshot" appear on your device's lock screen every time a screenshot of your snap is taken.
If you haven't turned on notifications, you can do a manual check
Step 2. Launch the Snapchat app
It features a yellow icon with a small stylized white ghost inside.
If you are not signed in with your Snapchat account, press the button Log in and provide login credentials (username or email address and password).
Step 3. Swipe the screen to the right from the app's main screen
The list of your chats will be displayed.
Step 4. Look for an icon with two overlapping arrows
This is the icon that indicates that a screenshot was taken by one of the users you sent a snap to. It has a right-facing arrow superimposed on a left-facing arrow and is displayed to the left of the username of the person who took the screenshot. Under the name of the person being tested, the words "Screenshot" will be visible followed by the time that has elapsed since the screenshot was taken (or the day of the week).
- If your snap has been sent, but not yet read, it will be marked with a red or purple right-pointing arrow icon.
- If your snap has been read, but a screenshot has not been taken, it will be marked with a right-pointing arrow icon of which only the outline is visible.
- The color of the arrow icon will be red for a snap that contains an image and purple for a snap that contains a video.
