Whether you are preparing for a “Toga Party” or are thinking of wearing a Greek Goddess costume for Halloween, making a handmade toga is easier than you can imagine! Read this article to learn how to make one.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Method 1: Toga with a Shoulder Pad
Step 1. Fold the sheet widthwise to obtain the appropriate length
Hold it pressed against your body to determine the size you will exactly need. The toga should cover the area between the chest and the knees.
-
The toga can be worn long or short, according to your personal taste.
Step 2. Wrap it around starting from the back
Hold one of the corners of the sheet in each hand.
Step 3. Fold the left corner around the body once and then pass it over the left shoulder
Step 4. Bring the right corner forward and tie it to the left corner
Make two simple knots over the shoulder.
-
As you fold it, adjust the sides of the sheet so that it is tight enough to stay in place.
Step 5. Secure the toga with a few safety pins
Step 6. Complete your costume with a thin braided belt and / or a gold hair band
Pair it with a pair of gold or brown flat sandals. Now you can go out and show off your look!
Method 2 of 2: Method 2: Sleeveless Gown
Step 1. Hold the sheet in front, resting horizontally against your body
Step 2. Wrap it around several times, as you would a towel
From one corner, leave about three feet in front.
Step 3. Twist the free corner of the sheet several times on itself, then rest it on the left shoulder
Wrap it around your neck, then tie it under your right arm.
Step 4. Secure the toga with a few safety pins
Be sure to stare at the area where the free corner was wrapped.
Step 5. Add a final touch with a gold ribbon or belt woven around the waist
Wear a gold hair band, or a garland of leaves around your head. Go out and make sparks!
Advice
- Use an old bed sheet or a cheap one, especially if you're going to a big party where it could get dirty.
- Under the toga, wear a strapless bra or white tubular top, just in case the toga opens unexpectedly.
