Steps
Step 1. You need an inhaler
Otherwise, use the inhaler prescribed by your doctor.
Step 2. Make sure your mouth is clear and clean
You don't have to clean your teeth. You just have to free your mouth. That is, you cannot use the inhaler while chewing gum or any other food or object. Also, if you have just eaten, clean your mouth with a napkin.
Step 3. Place your index finger at the top of the metal container
Do not press too hard or a dose will be missed.
Step 4. Place your thumb on the bottom of the inhaler with your index finger still on top of the canister, do not press hard
Stay in place.
Step 5. Uncover the mouthpiece
Step 6. Shake the inhaler
Don't shake too hard. Otherwise the container will slip out of your hands.
Step 7. Exhale
Step 8. Place the mouthpiece between your lips
Step 9. Press the metal can firmly using your index finger
Then inhale.
Step 10. Once inhaled, remove your finger from the container and then remove the device from your mouth
Step 11. Hold your breath for at least 10 seconds and exhale
Step 12. If your doctor has prescribed you two doses at a time, repeat the same steps
Step 13. When finished, close the mouthpiece and store the inhaler in a dry place
Advice
- Some inhalers can cause hoarseness and oral thrush - it may be helpful to rinse your mouth after using the inhaler.
- If a child has to use an inhaler, it is good that at least the first time he is helped by an adult.
- If your doctor prescribes the use of a spacer, connect it to the inhaler and follow the same steps as above.
Warnings
- If the inhaler has a dose counter: when the counter goes to zero the doses are finished.
- Do not pierce the metal container.
