Steps
Step 1. Get the materials (which you should have at home) and get started
You will also need a pencil, to make the basic structure of the diary. Read the TIPS section before starting.
Step 2. Group all the sheets and compact them with your hands
If there is someone to help you, so much the better. Otherwise, that's okay. You have to compress the sheets, for example by stopping them with a textbook or dictionary.
Step 3. Get white or liquid glue
Spread a thick layer of glue over the part of the compressed sheets you imagine will be the spine of the journal. Don't worry if a little glue gets on adjacent sheets. The important thing is that there is a lot of glue so that the sheets do not come off. The worst part is that you have to keep the sheets compressed until the glue is dry.
Step 4. When the glue in the spine is dry, cut a straight piece of paper and glue it to the spine of the book
You will need at least 3cm of border on each side. These 3 cm of normal paper must be glued on the first and last sheet inside the book.
Step 5. Take the cardboard and glue a piece on the first and last page of the diary
The diary will thus be more resistant. These cards are in fact the cover.
Step 6. Reinforce the spine of the book with a piece of construction paper
This will need to be measured beforehand with a ruler. Right now your diary looks like a sad, colorless book, but at least with a cover, sheets and spine.
Step 7. Free your imagination! Start decorating the diary cover! Cut out images from old magazines and paste them! Draw inside the cover, write your name or attach cute stickers! Choose according to your tastes!
Step 8. Start writing in your journal
Put the date at the top of the page and tell how you feel. Draw, stick, be creative! And have fun!
Method 1 of 1: Alternative Method
Step 1. Stack and align 20-25 sheets of paper
Step 2. Pin the pages together on the left side (4-7 staples)
Step 3. Decorate the cover as you like
Write sentences, draw pictures, etc. Do the same on the back as well, but use fewer words. Use highlighters, crayons, stickers, or colored pencils.
Step 4. Open the diary, go to the first page
Draw a circle in the center with the crayons. Color the “outside” of the circle.
Inside the circle write: "This diary is from:" and write your name below
Step 5. In each corner of the following pages draw small squiggles (eg
roses, butterflies or pumpkins).
Step 6. Stick a piece of adhesive on the cover to hide the staples
Do the same thing on the back.
Step 7. Write and draw whatever you like with the pencil and have fun
Advice
- Use your imagination to decorate the cover. Use everything you have available. Maybe those old colored pens you didn't like? Or those old stickers that you forgot inside a box? You could even cover the diary with pieces of fabric!
- If there is someone who could peek and read your diary, buy a small padlock with the key and improvise a small lock on the cover. Put a piece of felt on the cover and find a way to attach the lock to it. If you think this is not enough, remember that someone who is too curious could open a diary that is not well closed, but if someone destroys it to read what is inside, then it is not just simple curiosity.
- Reinforce the diary with clear adhesive paper. In this way it will be more resistant to water and the cover will not be damaged immediately.
- To make the diary more colorful and fun, don't use blank paper! Buy colored, light-colored or very bright paper. Make different combinations with the sheets (example: white sheet, red sheet, pink sheet, blue sheet and then all over again).
- To make a good spine, cover it with a piece of flexible cloth or paper with a 3cm or larger border (as you did in elementary school). This way you won't see any gaps between the spine and the cover.
- Try creating a professional diary by customizing the sheets. For example, you could use your computer to create beautiful tables using Microsoft Excel or a presentation with your name, phone, address … If you have enough time and patience, you can print the day / month / year at the top of the page.. You can also put a favorite page, a page with the top 10 of everything, a table with your exams and results, etc.
