When you are invited to a wedding, one of the first things you ask yourself is: "What should I wear?". There are different styles of clothing and each one requires a different outfit. This article will give you all the information you will need.
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Casual
When many guys hear the word "casual" they immediately think of "jeans and a shirt". It's not right. "Casual" means "smart casual", that is elegant but informal.
Step 1. Choose a shirt or shirt (which has a collar with buttons on the tips) with short sleeves
Step 2. Put on a pair of pants, even khakis
Dress pants will work too, but jeans are out of the question.
Step 3. Wear a belt, especially if you plan to tuck your shirt into your pants
Step 4. Choose some elegant shoes
Moccasins will also be fine.
Step 5. Keep the tie loose (optional)
Method 2 of 5: Business Casual
This style is slightly more elegant than casual.
Step 1. Put on a long-sleeved shirt (which has a collar with buttons on the tips) of any color, tucked into your pants
Step 2. Put on your tie, with a tight knot
Step 3. Choose trousers, even elegant ones, a belt and a pair of elegant shoes
Step 4. A blazer is optional
You can also go out without a tie, but it is recommended to wear it if you have one.
Method 3 of 5: Semi Formal
It is an almost formal style.
Step 1. Put on a two-piece suit
For a morning wedding, you can choose cream and gray colors with a tie, while dark colors are perfect for the evening.
Step 2. Put on shoes and dress pants
If you can't wear a suit, then at the very least you should wear a business casual dress with a blazer and dress pants.
Step 3. If possible, wear a tie
Method 4 of 5: Formal
Step 1. Wear a three-piece suit (a suit with a vest) with shoes and dress pants
If you prefer, you can wear a tuxedo if the wedding is in the evening. A two-piece suit will work too, but find a vest.
Method 5 of 5: Evening Dress
Step 1. Put on a black tuxedo, a smart white shirt, a black vest and a black bow tie
Lately it is used a lot to wear the black tie, although the bow tie is preferable. You can't wear anything other than a tuxedo. If you don't have one, rent it.
Step 2. Be creative with the tie
If black is not mandatory, you can also choose both the tie and the tuxedo in another color. Which means it doesn't have to be black and white.
If "wedding dress" is specified on the wedding invitation, congratulations! You will have to wear: black tailcoat, completely white vest, shirt with diplomatic collar, white bow tie to tie, elegant patent leather shoes. This is your only choice, because you can't wear anything else
Advice
- Enjoy the wedding.
- Never wear jeans.
- If there is no indication on the invitation, then the wedding will be semi-formal. Of course, if it's more casual you can take your jacket off in the car. If it's very casual, you can take off your tie as well.
- Don't let time influence your choice. If it will be cold, the bride and groom will take it into account when choosing the type of dress.
- Teens can follow the same guidelines as adults for any type of clothing. Unlike children, boys have to wear a tuxedo to a black tie wedding and will always have to wear dress pants.
-
For children, the guidelines are different.
- Casual: They can wear semi-elegant trousers and a dress shirt.
- Business casual: They can wear elegant trousers or shorts, a dress shirt and a tie.
- Semi formal: they can wear a suit, elegant trousers or shorts, an elegant shirt, tie and waistcoat (recommended but optional).
- Formal: They must wear a suit, while small children can wear a small tuxedo.
- Evening dress: children can wear a tuxedo or a suit. For the little ones, a tuxedo with shorts will do just fine.
- Children between 6 and 12 must follow the same guidelines for evening dresses. They don't have to wear a tuxedo, because they can wear a suit and tie. However, it is recommended that they wear a tuxedo. They must always wear elegant trousers.
