Having the ability to read minds can astound and confuse people. If done right, the simplest tricks can fool your friends into believing you have a certain "magic power". Maybe you can even show off your skills in public. The important thing is to use your new "power" for beneficial purposes and not to harm!
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Reading Mind Effectively
Step 1. Choose the right person
Magicians, comedians and artists in general sometimes call people from the audience to interact with, but you need to know that these people are not chosen at random! The entertainer makes an overview of the audience from the first minute of the show to find the right person. Some subjects are too closed and non-receptive, while others are over the top, but they are fickle. To practice the following techniques, you need to find an individual who is balanced, yet reserved and who seems adequately expressive.
Among your friends, the ideal is to find a person who is comfortable with you. Also you need someone who reacts openly to ideas and events and who is quite "transparent" in general. If he is a quiet, sad person who is difficult to interact with, he probably won't be of much help to you
Step 2. Know how most people answer questions
People, like it or not, usually follow a standard pattern in conversation. Certain questions are often given the same answers. Knowing what most people would say in a given situation can make you seem telepathic to those unfamiliar with these dynamics. Here are some basic principles:
- If asked to choose a number between 1 and 10, most people say 7.
- If asked to think about a color quickly (within 3 seconds or less), most people choose red.
- If a little more time is allowed (about 4 seconds), it will say blue.
Step 3. Assume their moves
To get people to open up and be honest with you, it's a good idea to have them reflect themselves in you. That is, to assume their own posture and the most obvious aspects of their personality. For example, if they keep their hands in their pockets and are a little shy, put them in your pocket too and show an equally shy attitude. If, on the other hand, they show a strong and confident temperament, do the same. This puts you both on the same wavelength.
If you know the person you're going to do the makeup with, that's not a big deal. However, know that when you declare that you want to read someone's mind, they suddenly close in a hedgehog. If you take on his moves and behavior you can prevent this from happening
Step 4. Learn to uncover lies
An easy way to turn a lie into a mind-reading is to ask a person a series of questions that you know only one is a lie. For example, you are asking your friend what number he is thinking of, but you have previously instructed him to always say "no" to every number you list. If you can tell when he lies, you can wow your audience with your psychic powers.
Let's say your friend is answering your question with a series of nos about the number they are thinking. All his answers seem the same, except when you say 6: his "no" seems more tense, his eyes look around, the friend appears a little too adamant and you notice that he fidgets a little. Probably 6 is just the number he thought of
Step 5. Look for answers by paying attention to his muscles
Just as body language can unmask us when we tell a lie, it can also unmask our thoughts. Lightly place a hand on the subject's back or shoulder (ask him first if you are allowed, if necessary) and begin your trick. When the thought you are trying to "capture" approaches, you probably feel his body becoming slightly tense or changing.
For example, you asked your friend to think of a letter of the alphabet. You are humming the song of the alphabet to help channel his thoughts. When you get to say his letter, you should notice changes in his body. Afterward, say his letter and watch him be amazed! His mind has not registered the automatic reaction in his body
Part 2 of 2: Mastering the "Telepathic" Tricks
Step 1. Insert the answer into the subject's mind
Many times mind reading is mainly based on imprinting. To get people to say the answer you want, you need to trigger it in their mind by saying it in advance. Here is an example:
You want your friend to say "red" when you ask him what his favorite color is. Before asking this question, though, you should set up a certain conversation by saying four things: "Hey, hi. Do you know what today's date is? How's your brother? Ah, really? I just saw my favorite movie. I like the color you wear. I'll probably buy a new * red * car."
Step 2. Learn tricks like "The Black Rhino of Denmark
There are some tricks besides these that, if your friends don't know, you can do by surprising them with your magical mind-reading prowess. Try this trick. Ask your friend to do the following:
- Choose a number between 2 and 10.
- Multiply this number by 9.
- Add the two digits that make up the number together (if it is a single digit, it is not a problem).
- Subtract 5 from that number.
- Give the resulting number corresponding letters: A = 1, B = 2, and so on.
- Think of a country that begins with that letter.
- Think of a color whose initial is the third letter of the country's name.
- Think of a large mammal whose name starts with the third letter of the color you thought of. A black rhino from Denmark!
- Most people, but not all, know this trick. It's just a mathematical question. It always ends with 4, which gives the letter "D." From there, there are very few options, and most people will say "rhino".
Step 3. Do some magic tricks
A convincing magic trick can trick your friends into thinking that you truly have some kind of supernatural power. It can be a card trick, a little object trick, or none of that. Learn a couple of games to wow your friends and they may think you can really read minds!
There are also some magic tricks to read people's minds. You can get some hints by reading this article
Step 4. Also read this tutorial if you want to do some math tricks
If you have a special talent for math, using these mind-reading tricks may really be for you. You don't even need a piece of paper or a calculator. All you have to do is memorize a couple of equations!
This article alone has three different methods that you can try. If you don't particularly like one of these, you can always choose the other two to change a bit. That said, however, keep in mind that some are more difficult than others. Do the one that best suits your skills
Step 5. Search the internet for other tricks, such as reading someone's mind by numbers
You will find similar ideas and maybe other equations to try with your friends. There is sure to be something that will help surprise them!
