A traditional dish of Irish cuisine, corned beef is a meat pie made with potatoes, onions and spices. It can be made with fresh, frozen, canned meat, and even leftover beef from previous meals. Read the article and discover three recipes for the preparation of corned beef hash: slow cooker, with the crunchy method and with eggs and cream.
Ingrediants
- 3 tablespoons of Butter
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 300 g of finely chopped beef (preferably beef in the sun or canned meat)
- 450 g diced potatoes (preferably Yukon gold variety)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley to taste
- 60 ml of cream and 2 eggs (for the third method)
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Slow Cooker Method
Step 1. Prepare the potatoes
Peel and cut into cubes. Add them to a large pan in which you will have poured some oil.
Step 2. Prepare the beef
Chop the meat finely, whether you choose fresh, canned beef or reuse leftovers. Add the meat to the pan with the potatoes.
Step 3. Add the onion
Cut an onion into cubes and pour it into the pan with the potatoes and beef.

If you wish, you can also add finely chopped cabbage to the dish, it will add a tasty flavor to your recipe.

Also add some garlic to intensify the aroma.
Step 4. Incorporate the beef stock
Pour it over the meat and vegetable mixture.
Step 5. Cover the pan with the lid and simmer the ingredients
Use a medium heat and continue cooking until the liquids are completely absorbed.
Step 6. Season your hash
Add salt and pepper to taste, and decorate the plate with chopped fresh parsley.
Method 2 of 3: Crunchy Method
Step 1. Melt the butter in the pan
Pour the butter into a large skillet, preferably cast iron, and melt it over medium heat.
Step 2. Add the potatoes
Spread them on the bottom of the pan in an even layer and cook them in butter until fluffy.
Step 3. Add the onions and meat
Mix the two ingredients with the potatoes, distributing them evenly across the bottom of the pan. Press the ingredients against the bottom of the pan with the help of a kitchen spatula.
Step 4. Brown and cook your corned beef hash
Cook it until the underside is golden and crunchy.
Step 5. Flip the hash
Turn it upside down, after separating it into sections, and press it back into the bottom of the pan with the spatula. Cook the underside to make it golden and crunchy.
Step 6. Season your hash
Add salt and pepper to taste, and decorate the plate with chopped fresh parsley.
Method 3 of 3: Cream and Egg Method
Step 1. Cook the potatoes in boiling water
Pour the diced potatoes into a pot filled with boiling salted water and cook for 3 minutes.
Step 2. Drain the potatoes from the water and set aside
Step 3. Chop the beef and onion
Use a sharp knife and cut the meat and onion into small pieces.
Step 4. Fry the onion in butter
Melt the butter in the pan and then add the raw onion. Fry the onion until soft.
Step 5. Stir in the potatoes and cook the mixture over high heat for 5 minutes
Stir occasionally, and continue cooking until the potatoes and onions are soft and lightly browned.
Step 6. Add the beef and season with salt and pepper to taste
Step 7. Pour the cream into the pan
Stir in 60ml cream and stir as you cook for another minute.
Step 8. Add the eggs
Make 4 holes in your meat pie and break an egg into each hole. Cover the pan with the lid and cook using medium heat for as long as desired.
