It is possible to exchange data between Android phones equipped with an NFC chip simply by bringing them close to each other. It is not a technology available for all phones on the market, but when it is present it allows you to send and receive files very quickly. Follow the instructions to get started with Android Beam.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Check the System Requirements
Step 1. Make sure you have a mobile with Android 4.0 or newer version
Version 4.0 is also called Ice Cream Sandwich.
Enter the Settings screen. Select "About phone". Check which version of Android is installed. If it's 4.0 or newer, it means you can use Android Beam
Step 2. Make sure your mobile has an NFC chip
This type of technology allows the exchange of data and information between two telephones located at a distance of less than 2 cm.
- NFC chips are present on many mid to high-end mobile phones and will spread more and more in the future.
- Go back to the Settings screen. Select "More" or "Connections". If you can't find NFC in the options, you won't be able to use Android Beam.
Part 2 of 3: Activate Android Beam
Step 1. Find the NFC option in the Settings menu
Click on the option or select "On" to activate it.
Step 2. Look for the Android Beam option in the Settings menu
Click on the option or select "On" to activate it.
Step 3. Repeat the same procedure on the other phone you want to share data with
If the Android version is too old, or if the device does not have the NFC chip, you will not be able to put the two phones in communication.
Part 3 of 3: Share Android Data
Step 1. Select the file or information you want to share with the other phone
- For example, search for a place on Google maps and share the map with the other phone.
- You can also select a contact from your address book and send it to the other phone.
- You can open almost any web page using your browser, and it will also appear on the other phone.
Step 2. Place the two phones within inches of each other
It is not necessary for them to touch, but it is not contraindicated.
Step 3. Wait for a slight vibration
Step 4. Confirm that you want to share data using Android Beam
Click on "Ok" or "Yes" to continue.
