If you think that cleaning your room is boring and that it takes too much time, read this article for some advice on how to do it in a fast and fun way, perhaps to the rhythm of music.
Steps
Step 1. Try to get in the habit of making the bed every morning
An unmade bed, in fact, can make the entire room seem messy. This very little effort can push you to keep your room clean all day, instead of, perhaps, throwing everything on the bed.
Step 2. Put your mp3 player headphones in your ears or turn on the stereo (if you don't disturb anyone) before you start cleaning
Music will help distract you and make it more fun!
Step 3. Don't eat in the room
As tempting as it may be to keep snacks in your room, dirty dishes and bags quickly create a mess. If you can't help but eat in your room, take the dishes back to the kitchen and take out the trash right after you're done. Maybe buy a basket to keep in your room. Also make sure that there are not too many crumbs: they will attract ants and cockroaches.
Step 4. Put things back after using them
While it may seem like an annoying rule, if you follow it, you won't create any mess. If you don't have time in the morning, fix everything before you go to bed. Either way, it's best to put things back in place immediately after using them. Or, set aside an hour a week to clean and organize the room. If you get tired in the long run, you will not want to clean up and, consequently, you will directly avoid messing everything up!
Step 5. Maintenance
Once a week, do a simple maintenance cleaning. Dust off your desk, shelves, and other dusty surfaces. Pass the broom and vacuum cleaner. Wash the sheets and maybe clean the windows.
Step 6. Break bad habits:
- This is obvious: throw the dirty clothes on the floor instead of in the special bin. If you don't have it, buy one and, every two or three days, empty it.
- Place a book on the floor after reading it instead of in the bookcase.
- Leave the shoes on the floor. Keep them all in a shoe cabinet or, in any case, in the same place.
- Crumple up a sheet of paper and throw it on the floor instead of in the trash.
- Keep a trash can.
- Have a drink in your room and leave the glass or mug on the desk. Reread the third step.
- Throw the cushions you don't use on the floor instead of putting them in the closet. Reread the first step.
Step 7. Remember, lighting can make a room seem cleaner
Buy a few lamps, but don't overdo it. One lamp on the floor and two on the desk are sufficient. Make sure the bulbs emit a soft, warm, fluorescent light.
Step 8. Before going to sleep, take a few minutes to collect any dirty laundry or other things you have left lying around and make sure the room looks decent
Step 9. If you find cleaning too difficult, running out of time, or simply too lazy, get a friend to help you
Advice
- Take a picture of your room when it's in super clutter and keep it in sight. If you are tempted not to put the things you used in order, take a look to remind yourself of what will happen if you are not constant.
- In some cases, even your best intentions will be challenged. If you've been traveling or have had a tiring day, you probably won't want to tidy up your room. However, don't give in. Try to unpack right away - you will soon appreciate your effort.
- Don't let everyone into your room, especially if it's someone who has never been there. In fact, people who have never seen it before will look around and pick up your things, probably without putting them back in place. If someone enters it for the first time, ask them to put the things they touch back where they were.
- If even after reading these tips it seems impossible to keep the room clean, maybe your organizational system needs an improvement. Sometimes, rethinking how you organize and store things can work wonders.
- Make sure you don't leave trash on the floor, bed, desk, etc. Keep a trash can in your room to clean up right away. If you have school papers and notes, stack them instead of leaving them cluttered on your desk. Also, don't throw dirty handkerchiefs on the floor.
- If cleaning bores you, pretend to be in the basement of a castle and, if you don't tidy up, at some point the evil keeper (your mother) will appear and find that you have not completed your task. If, on the other hand, you are finished in time, you will be able to exit the dungeons. While this tip is best suited for little ones, you can always have fun by pretending that the laundry basket is a basketball hoop and that the clothes are balls (but if you don't have to make a basket, pick up the clothes off the ground!).
Warnings
- Remember, procrastination is your worst enemy in the fight to keep your room clean. Saying "I'll do it later" will only cause disorder and chaos.
- If you leave food in your room, bugs will appear sooner or later. To avoid this, eat only in the kitchen or dining room.
- If the television on is distracting you, turn it off.
- Leaving dirty underwear on the floor will not only bother you, but also the people living in your home.
- Break down your stuff into categories (makeup, school, nail polish, toys, etc.).
