The Indie / Hipster subculture boasts among its values an independent thought, a slight non-conformism and faith in reformist politics (not necessarily right-wing). Those who embody its culture have a passion for rock-indie, are very creative, intelligent and are known for their curious sense of humor. One more thing, the music. Indie- (n) a mysterious form of rock that you can only know if someone more hipster than you tells you about it.
Steps
Step 1. Reinvent yourself
Change your style in a unique and totally your own way. Being a hipster or indie means not having to pay attention to what others might think of you.
Step 2. Renew your wardrobe if necessary
Let's start with clothes, as they are an important element of your daily lifestyle. Indies always show a "careless" look, but in reality they care a lot about their appearance. Here are some examples to be able to renew your wardrobe.
- Let's start from the top. Get t-shirts with the names of your favorite bands written on them, with artistic images or with ironic phrases. Your shirt must fully represent you. Stay away from t-shirts and shirts with famous brands, such as D&G, Cesare Paciotti and Hogan. There are some decent brands, but they are often very expensive. When it's cold, the best way to take shelter is to wear XXL sweaters. Of any color and texture, as you prefer. Cardigans are also fine, the important thing is that they are one size above yours. Remember that flannel shirts are very versatile, they can be used in any season.
- Now let's think about the pants. This part is simple. Basically the tighter the jeans, the better. Get as many skin-tight jeans as you can, in dark blue, black or gray. If you want to vary, you can try another typical Hipster / Indie piece of clothing, the corduroy trousers. If you are into the skirt, know that you can wear it, as long as it is very high waisted. The same thing goes for shorts.
- If you don't have the right shoes, you can never be a true Indie. Girls can more or less wear the shoes they want, but the following are the most suitable: Vans (both moccasins and laces), boat shoes, moccasins, colorful ballet flats, riding boots, Converse (high or low ankle), TOMS, colored heels. It is virtually impossible to go wrong with these shoes.
Step 3. Accessorized
Now that we have the fundamentals in place, we can take care of the accessories. Indie girls especially like to decorate themselves with the most diverse accessories. Long earrings, of any shape and color are fine. Get some bracelets, or a cool watch, you can even wear something you create yourself. The bands no longer go on the head, now you have to put them on the forehead. When it's cold, wrap your neck with a scarf. Wear any type of ring, buy some handmade on the internet. The rarer it is, the more Indie it is. Also get some big glasses, nice thick. Don't use glasses? It will mean that you will start doing it. You can buy fake glasses pretty much everywhere.
Step 4. Last but not least, the coat
Many Indies prefer to wear Caban, better double-breasted, but single-breasted is fine too, if you don't have any better. There are Members Only coats, very vintage and therefore very cool. Sweaters with images or ironic writings are also good. When it's not too cold, use hoodies.
Step 5. Hair must remain natural
Don't dye them every week, don't straighten them. If they are smooth, leave them smooth. If they are curly, leave them curly. Make-up must also be light and natural.
Step 6. Jewelery
Handmade, sustainable. The rings are almost mandatory.
Step 7. Save
Make your own clothes at home. Edit clothes you already own.
Step 8. Eat healthy
Well, because it's good for you.
Step 9. Read
Books make the brain work better than computers… get a book !!!
Step 10. Blog
Blog. Blog. Start a blog on blogspot, tumblr or wherever you like. Write!
Step 11. One of Indie kids' hobbies is photography
Step 12. Be nice to everyone
But choose your friends wisely.
