Have you just adopted a kitten full of fleas, but you can't treat him because he is still too young for chemicals to apply to his skin? Here are some tips to get rid of these parasites in another way!
Steps
Step 1. Buy flea and tick shampoo
Make sure it's specifically for cats and your kitten is old enough to come in contact with the product.
Step 2. Fill the sink with hot water
Do not heat the water too much. This will be used for rinsing.
Step 3. Put the kitten in the sink and wet all the fur
It could be a painful task if you don't cut his nails first!
Step 4. Remove the kitten from the water and place it in a basin or bathtub, and lather it with the right amount of specific shampoo
Work all over the hair. Make sure you wash your head too! If you leave it out, the fleas will run away and hide from the body towards the head. The kitten would not like to have fleas in their eyes or ears!
Step 5. Leave the shampoo in place for 3-5 minutes, long enough for the fleas to die
When you start seeing parasites, do nothing and continue the treatment.
Step 6. Put the kitten in the sink full of water and rinse it off
You may need to use more water to get rid of all the shampoo, in this case run it from the tap.
Step 7. Immediately wrap the kitten in a washcloth after rinsing to keep him from catching cold
As soon as it is completely dry, you will have a happy and flea-free kitten!

Advice
- Have some wipes handy. Even if the water is hot, the kitten will be very cold as soon as it comes out of the sink!
- It is advisable to get the cat accustomed to water when it is still small. This will facilitate subsequent baths, which otherwise could even become potentially dangerous.
- Trim the kitten's nails if it is obvious that it hates water. That way it won't scratch you while you wash it.
- If your kitten has a lot of fleas, you can also use a flea comb to remove dead fleas and any survivors. I always squeeze them between my thumb nails to make sure they're really dead. I know of some fleas that have come back to life.
- If your cat has long fur, be sure to apply shampoo well so fleas can't hide in the thick fur.
Warnings
- Do not ingest the shampoo!
- Don't get shampoo in your eyes, it hurts a lot!
- Make sure you don't get fleas from jumping on you. If you see one, kill it!
- Bring the kitten back to its normal body temperature as soon as possible. Small kittens can die of cold.
- Kill all the fleas you can remove from the kitten! A harmless flea is a flea squeezed between two nails.
