Flip flops are absolutely 'in' shoes, available in different styles and colors. It is not exactly like walking in traditional shoes and in order not to 'lose' them on the street, you have to learn how to do it correctly.
Steps
Step 1. Buy a good pair of flip flops
When you wear them, you should see about 1.30 cm of sole around the foot.
Step 2. Make sure they don't rub your toe
In this case, the skin would become irritated. Flip flops with rubber hooks are easy to put on, but those with leather or fabric straps are more comfortable and make walking easier.
Step 3. When walking, keep your foot pointing straight
If you walk with 'duck's feet' or with your toes pinched together, your flip flops are more likely to get stuck on the ground and you may fall.
Step 4. Squeeze your big toe and index finger together as you walk
You will maintain control of the position of the flip flops on the foot.
Step 5. Roll your toes and foot slightly as you walk
Step 6. Walk from heel to toe
If the fit is correct, you shouldn't need to slide your foot all the time to keep the flip flops on.
Advice
- Your foot shouldn't never stick out of the shoe while standing. If the sole is much larger than described in the steps, it is likely that the flip flops are too big and you will have a hard time walking on them.
- If you wear them often, it is advisable to use a pair that fits wide with at least 2.5 cm of space in the back of the heel. This way, you can walk without tightening your toes around the strap, allowing your foot to move back and forth without losing your shoes.
- You shouldn't roll or pinch your toes while wearing flip flops because it's the main cause of injury. Make sure they are slightly tight by letting your foot relax, and walk as if you were barefoot. This is the only safe and healthy way to wear flip flops.
Warnings
- Be careful: If worn for long periods, the flip flops may irritate the fingers with the lanyard. When sitting or standing for a long time, you can take your toes off the cord of one or both shoes to rest your feet. Be discreet and be careful not to make the sole of the foot visible by showing the dirty sole. Taking off your shoes and sitting in "Indian Style" is acceptable in certain contexts; however, do not show the sole of the foot if it is dirty after walking.
- Should the thong strap break, it is virtually impossible to repair it without being damaged again; be careful!
- Wearing rubber flip flops on hot days for long walks can lead to blistering.
- Driving the car in flip flops can be difficult; however, try to push the heel down to prevent the flip flops from getting stuck in the pedals. However, it is advisable to drive barefoot and put them back on when you arrive at your destination. But be sure to NOT leave them near the pedals! Consult the applicable laws by doing an internet search.
- It is difficult to run with flip flops; make sure you are comfortable if you run frequently.
- Pay attention to the weather conditions; many flip flops become slippery on wet surfaces.
- It is difficult to surprise people if you wear flip-flops because of the noise they make as you walk.
- Rolling your toes when you walk for long periods of time can make your toes hammer-like - that is, when your toes stay bent.
