Sugar can be used as a delicious sweetener, but also as a natural and gentle alternative to harsh and expensive, chemically produced exfoliants. Likewise, honey is a natural sweetener that can also be used as a moisturizer to prevent skin health and healing. Creating a sugar and honey exfoliant is the perfect DIY solution for your skin's needs. Take advantage of these two ingredients you find in the kitchen to "soften" your face and make your skin more shiny.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Create a Sugar and Honey Facial Scrub
Step 1. Use whole honey
Make sure you use a product that has not been treated or pasteurized. You can find it in herbal medicine, at the market and on the internet. By using this variety, instead of the bottled one you can find in the supermarket, you can be sure that it is a completely natural and toxin-free product. Also, you will get more medicinal benefits from honey by using it in this more natural form.
- Before applying honey to the skin, make sure you are not allergic. If in doubt, ask your doctor for a test.
- You can also do a skin test to make sure you don't develop an allergic reaction. Put a small amount of honey on your hand or a part of your body that you can hide. Wait an hour and if you don't have an allergic reaction, such as itching, redness, or swelling, you can probably use this food for exfoliating.
Step 2. Pour one and a half tablespoons of honey into a small bowl or plate
Add more if you want to scrub your neck as well.
Step 3. Add one and a half tablespoons of extra-fine sugar to the honey
Make sure it's not too grainy.
If you prefer, you can use brown sugar. The crystals in extra-fine and brown sugar are softer than in traditional sugar
Step 4. Add 3-5 drops of lemon juice to give the mask freshness
Make sure you use a fresh lemon, as pre-sliced ones have a higher content of ascorbic acid, which can do more harm than good.
Step 5. Test the consistency of the exfoliator by holding it between your fingers
The paste should be thick and slide "very" slowly from your finger. Add more sugar if it's too runny. If it is too thick, add more honey.
Part 2 of 3: Apply the Sugar and Honey Scrub
Step 1. Wet your fingers and apply the scrub to your face and neck
Gently massage your skin in circular motions for about 45 seconds. Let the exfoliator work for at least 5 minutes.
- To get the same benefits as a beauty mask, leave the scrub on your face for 10 minutes.
- If you have dry, chapped lips, massage them gently to exfoliate them.
Step 2. Rinse off with warm water
Make sure you don't leave any sugar or honey residue on your face. If you don't wash well, your skin may stay sticky.
After the treatment, the skin will appear slightly red, but it should return to normal quickly
Step 3. Pat your skin dry with a clean towel
Avoid rubbing yourself, otherwise you could damage your skin and cause irritation. Dab the towel gently on your face to remove all moisture from the skin.
Step 4. Moisturize the skin
Use a sunscreen moisturizer to protect yourself from light damage.
If you've also applied the exfoliant to your lips, apply lip balm
Step 5. Repeat the treatment at least once a week
If you have sensitive or dry skin, use sugar and honey exfoliator to exfoliate dead skin from your face 1-2 times a week. in case of combination or oily skin, you can use the treatment 2-3 times a week.
Part 3 of 3: Create Different Versions of the Honey and Sugar Scrub
Step 1. Use egg whites if you have oily skin
Egg whites have been shown to help remove dead skin and improve oily skin health. You can add them to your honey and sugar exfoliant for a more astringent effect. Add the white of one egg to each and a half tablespoons of honey.
Remember that by using raw egg in exfoliant you risk contracting salmonella. When using egg whites, be careful not to put the scrub close to your mouth to reduce the risk of swallowing it
Step 2. Make a honey mask for acne
If you have pimples problems, you can try using pure honey as a skin mask. If you have dry, oily or sensitive skin you can get some benefits by using this remedy.
Spread honey all over your face after washing your hands. Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes, then wash it off with warm water. Pat your face dry with a towel
Step 3. Make an oatmeal and honey exfoliant to remove dead skin
Oats are rich in natural cleansers, so they are the ideal substance for removing dirt and oils from the skin. By mixing it with honey and lemon you will be able to hydrate and cleanse the skin.
- Mix 70 g of rolled oats (whole oats in chopped grains), 85 g of honey and 60 ml of lemon juice. Combine the ingredients well in a bowl, pouring 60ml of water inside as you mix. If you want to soften oats, you can crumble them in a coffee grinder.
- Apply the scrub to your face after washing your hands, massaging your skin in circular motions. Rinse off after a minute with warm water before wiping your face with a towel.
