Would you like to be able to change your appearance? You are not alone. It happens to many women, especially younger ones. You're probably already beautiful just the way you are, you just don't know it yet. By learning to feel better about yourself and changing your look to suit your way of being, you can feel like a totally new and beautiful woman.
Steps
Part 1 of 4: Taking Care of Yourself
Step 1. Drink enough water
It can help you stay focused, feel energized, and even shed a few extra pounds. To calculate the amount of water you need each day, divide your weight in pounds in half: the result will tell you how many ounces you should drink (you can convert the measurements on Google).
A 150-pound woman, or around 68 pounds, should drink 75-150 liquid ounces per day, or 2.2-4.5 liters, depending on the climate of the place where she lives and the level of physical activity performed. For example, if he has a dynamic lifestyle and lives in a warm area, he would need about 4.5 liters of water per day
Step 2. Eat healthy
Avoid overdoing sugar, salt, and processed foods. Here is what cannot be missing from your diet:
- Proteins, i.e. fish, white meat, legumes, nuts and eggs. They are some of the healthiest foods ever and will allow you to fill up on protein.
- "Good" fats, contained in dried fruit (almonds are very healthy), vegetable oils (extra virgin olive oil is one of the most popular), certain types of fruit and vegetables, such as avocado. These are just a few examples.
- Whole and unprocessed carbohydrates, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes, such as beans.
- Vitamins and minerals, which are also available in supplement form. If you know your diet doesn't allow you to get enough, you can take them.
Step 3. Listen to your body
Drink when you are thirsty and eat when you are hungry. If you've always ignored the signals your body sent you in the past, it can take some time to learn to understand them. Once you are able to do this, you will see that it will be easier to follow a healthy diet and maybe even lose weight.
- If you eat or drink something that causes you a headache or makes you feel bad, take note and try to avoid it in the future, especially if consuming a certain product regularly causes you this discomfort.
- Pay attention to what foods and drinks make you feel good. A clean diet rich in water and nutrients should help you feel healthier and more peaceful. If you are fit and happy, you will feel even more beautiful.
Step 4. Exercise regularly
Allow at least 30 minutes of training three to five times a week, even more if you want to lose weight.
- If you are short on time, the most effective exercises are those that train several muscle groups at the same time. Examples include swimming, dancing or even vigorously cleaning the house.
- Taking a brisk walk for 20 minutes, twice a day, is another effective way to stay fit and healthy.
- Yoga is a wonderful workout for relieving stress, developing and toning muscles. Just make sure you combine it with cardiovascular activities like walking, running or swimming.
Step 5. Maintain good personal hygiene
Wash and moisturize your face twice a day. Brush your teeth two or three times a day. Shower at least every other day. Wash your hair whenever it starts to look greasy (depending on your hair type, you will need to shampoo every other day or once a week).
- If you have blemishes on your face and back, it may be necessary to wash your hair more often, as oil from the scalp can end up on your face, neck and back, causing pimples to appear.
- To keep your teeth healthy and strong, make sure you go to the dentist every six months.
- Good personal hygiene will make you feel fresh and more beautiful day after day. Try to take care of yourself on a daily basis, even if you are feeling down.
Step 6. Try to keep a journal
Writing regularly can relieve anxiety, stress, and depression. It can also help you work through your own problems and improve self-esteem. Try writing for 20 minutes a day.
Write even when you have nothing to say. For example, you can start writing by explaining that you don't quite know what to talk about - see where the flow of thoughts will take you. Often you will come up with something to tell and it will probably even be unexpected
Step 7. Meditate regularly
Meditation allows you to live in the moment and have direct contact with your emotions. In addition, it has been scientifically proven that it changes the structure of the brain, making you become smarter and more serene.
- There are several ways to meditate. One of the most common is to sit in a comfortable position with your eyes closed and try to clear your mind of all thoughts.
- If something occurs to you during meditation, visualize this thought dissolving, but you can also name it and send it away. Your goal is to focus on the present, without being distracted by any thoughts.
- You don't have to meditate for long from the start. To begin with, it takes even a minute or two. For best practice, you should gradually meditate for at least 10-15 minutes a day. If that's not possible, do what you can.
Step 8. Think positive
Most people have an inner voice that sees everything black and that undermines self-esteem with words of contempt. You can counteract it by practicing gratitude and replacing negative voices with positive ones.
- Thinking positive can be a difficult habit to adopt, so be patient with yourself as you learn to spot negative thoughts and counter them with a constructive attitude.
- Assuming good posture is a trick that helps you improve your predisposition. Stand up straight, with your shoulders back, your chin up and your arms stretched out as far as possible. When you do this, also try to feel authoritative and optimistic - you will see that these positive feelings will persist.
Step 9. Smile
According to some studies, people who seem happy tend to attract others more. Additionally, research has shown that smiling can improve mood even in bad times.
If you're feeling down, try smiling for about 30 seconds to give yourself a boost
Step 10. Believe in yourself
Gaining good self-esteem is easier said than done, but it's worth the effort. If you have confidence in yourself, you will be healthier and happier, so you will automatically become more beautiful.
- Making a list of your strengths, successes, and everything you love about yourself is helpful in strengthening your self-esteem. At first, however, it can be quite difficult. It may even take hours to find just one quality. However, just as your self-esteem builds up gradually, these lists will grow bit by bit too.
- Counteract negative inner dialogues. This is closely related to having a positive disposition. When you denigrate yourself, acknowledge it and replace less flattering thoughts with positive comments. For example, if you think "I'm fat" or "I'm ugly", counter by telling yourself immediately: "I have a nice butt" or "I have nice eyes".
Step 11. Get enough sleep
If you don't rest properly, your mind won't work truly productively, so it will be harder to have healthy eating habits, exercise, think positively, and cultivate good self-esteem.
Adults need seven to nine hours of sleep a night, while teenagers need eight and a half or nine and a half hours
Part 2 of 4: Change your hair
Step 1. Cut and / or dye your hair
Whether you try to make a different cut or dye them a different color, this change will radically affect your overall appearance. Think about what hairstyles and colors might enhance you.
- Ask yourself this question: What do you want your hair to say about you? Are you a sociable person who likes to take risks? Then you can wear a jaunty cut and dye them in an original color. Are you down to earth and a hippie soul? Long, layered hair in a natural color will be for you.
- Do a search online or take a look at specialized magazines to understand which hairstyles immediately catch your eye (at newsstands you can find newspapers dedicated exclusively to cuts and hairstyles).
Step 2. Determine the shape of your face
If you want to change your hairstyle, it's important to take your face into consideration. There are different types of faces. To find out which one is yours, look in the mirror and outline your face with a lipstick or eye pencil.
- An oval face is harmonious and well balanced (a little wider in the center).
- A square face has the same width at the height of the eyebrows, cheekbones and jaw.
- A triangular face is wider at the bottom, with a pronounced chin.
- A heart-shaped face (also called an "inverted triangle") has a slightly pronounced chin, with wider cheekbones.
- A round face, on the other hand, has a circular shape.
- A diamond face is quite angular, with cheekbones that are wider than the eyebrows and jaw.
- A long face has a regular width from the forehead to the chin, which makes it look elongated.
Step 3. Choose the hair style that best suits your face
To have beautiful hair, opt for a cut that will complement your features.
- Oval faces are enhanced by almost all cuts, although an accentuated length can optically lengthen this type of face.
- The square faces give the cuts that go beyond the jaw. In particular, cuts that stop exactly in this area should be avoided, otherwise the face will appear even more square. Also avoid cuts with sharp and angular lines, such as helmets or straight bangs. It is preferable to opt for a side tuft, waves and scaled cuts that frame the face.
- To the triangular faces they give the short cuts able to widen the upper part of the head, in order to create a good balance with the jaw. If you want to wear them long, make sure they go past the jaw, otherwise the face may look too broad at the base.
- A heart-shaped face would look great with a scaled cut at the chin, like a bob. Avoid too short cuts and full bangs, as they can weigh down the upper part of the face. Do not do tight ponytails or other particularly neat crops, as they will highlight the chin.
- An asymmetrical and scaled cut would look good on a round face, which will help balance the width of the face. Chin-length cuts and straight bangs can make it look looser. The same goes for the line in the middle. Instead, opt for the side parting or a side tuft.
- For a diamond face, a voluminous cut on the sides would be ideal, but not on the top of the head. This face would also look good with bangs and a layered cut that frames the face. However, the line in the center should be avoided.
- In order not to accentuate an elongated face, one must avoid wearing excessively long hair. It is necessary to try to make it wider. This type of face is enhanced by helmets, scaled cuts and straight fringes.
Step 4. Consider making a tint
Dyeing your hair allows you to change your look and enhance yourself even more. Before coloring them, however, consider which shades are best suited to your complexion, your skin tone and your eyes.
- In theory, almost any color would work for your complexion and eyes, but you need to remember that there are numerous shades and that skin undertone should not be neglected. For example, complexions with yellow undertones give warm red tones, such as strawberry, while a pinkish or cool undertone complexion would look better with a brighter red.
- Choosing a hair color in line with that of the skin and eyes will allow you to have a more natural result. For example, think of the classic beach girl look, with sandy blonde hair, tanned skin and blue eyes.
- The stronger the contrast between complexion, eyes and hair, the more intense the result. For example, a pale skinned, green-eyed girl who decides to dye her hair a vibrant auburn would have an impactful look.
- If you're not sure what your skin tone is, take some online tests and see what colors are suggested to you.
Step 5. Keep your hair healthy
Wash them according to your needs using shampoos and conditioners suitable for your hair type (for example, dyed, normal, oily, and so on). As a result, it may be necessary to shampoo every other day or once a week. The drier the hair, the less it needs to be washed.
- If you have dry, brittle hair, do a deeply nourishing treatment once a week. You can prepare it at home with just a few ingredients: just mix olive oil, two egg yolks, an avocado, mayonnaise and conditioner. Leave the mask on for a few hours (even overnight).
- If you have dandruff or other problems, avoid home treatments. Instead, use special products to resolve the disorder. If it is severe, see a dermatologist or other specialist.
Part 3 of 4: Put on makeup
Step 1. Learn to create a soap and water look
That is, you must enhance your natural beauty. Having a simple look, at least apparently, doesn't always mean wearing little or no makeup. You can still use foundation, blush or bronzer, mascara, eyeshadow and lipstick: the important thing is to get a fresh result.
- You can wear makeup for smoother, more even skin (foundation and concealer), longer lashes (mascara), higher cheekbones (blush, bronzer, or contouring kit) and fuller lips (lip liner and lipstick).
- For example, different products are needed to have a radiant face, which is an achievement that almost all women aspire to.
- If you don't feel like wearing makeup but would like to have a healthier complexion, try using a tinted moisturizer or mattifying powder. They can help you improve your skin overall without feeling too heavy or oily.
Step 2. Highlight your eyes with makeup
You can use different types of eyeliner, pencils and eye shadows to make them stand out.
- If you have blue eyes, go for light and natural tones, such as coral and champagne. Dark colors and smokey makeup can weigh them down, so before you use them to go out, experiment around the house.
- Gray or blue-gray eyes can be enhanced with shades of gray, blue and silver with ash shades. Smokey makeup is ideal for these types of eyes.
- Green eyes give the dullest shades of purple and satin brown.
- Hazel or brown eyes with green flecks would look good with metallic make-up and pastel tones, which will make the shades stand out. Old pink, copper and gold eyeshadows are ideal for hazel eyes.
- Almost all colors and makeup styles look good on brown eyes. Neutral tones of salmon and gold with bronze hues are ideal. For smokey makeup, you could also blend some black eyeshadow into the crease of the eye.
- The smokey eyes technique is quite common. It consists of applying two or three eyeshadows to create a nuanced look with a gradual intensity. Often the darker color is applied to the eyelid, and then creates a gradient effect in the direction of the eyebrows using the other colors.
Step 3. Put on lipstick
It allows you to make your lips stand out and make your makeup more sophisticated. Red is one of the most popular colors and can be worn by everyone. The secret is to find the right shade for your complexion.
Step 4. Use a lip liner
Apply it before the lipstick to lengthen its hold. You can also use it to change the shape of your lips to make them look fuller or thinner according to your needs.
Step 5. Make up in a balanced way
Intense eye makeup accompanied by showy lips is generally not recommended by makeup artists because it can be excessive. For example, if you do smokey eyes, your lips should remain natural.
- If you apply red lipstick, the rest of the makeup should be relatively subtle. For example, you can do cat eye makeup and pair it with red lipstick.
- When it comes to the balance between hair color and makeup, the rules are more or less the same. For example, a fiery red hair will limit the range of lipsticks you can use.
Step 6. You could also contour
This technique is used to modify the shape of the face using bronzer and highlighter (but also foundation of slightly different shades than your complexion). For example, it can help you make your nose look smaller and cheekbones more prominent.
The art of contouring must be learned step by step. If you don't particularly like your features, you can start giving it a try right away
Step 7. Take off your make-up well
Make-up can irritate the skin and cause blemishes. Wash your face properly at the end of the day and remove all traces of makeup to prevent pimples from appearing.
- To prevent pimples from appearing, choose products that are non-comedogenic, that is, that do not block the pores. The packaging should clearly indicate this feature. Either way, you may have imperfections even with oil-free makeup.
- If you do intense eye makeup, you may want to use a special makeup remover or coconut oil to make sure you get rid of all traces of the product before going to sleep.
Part 4 of 4: The Right Clothing to Appreciate Yourself
Step 1. Find your style
Search different looks online to figure out which one might be right for you. Decide based on your tastes, but also by considering what would make you feel safe. Think about your identity and ask yourself how you can make it stand out through your style.
- For example, if you are an outgoing person who loves punk music, you may be inspired by old photos from the time this subculture developed. If you're simpler and a little hippie, you might want to check out images from the sixties and seventies for inspiration.
- Clothes must be an extension of your personality. This means they should make you feel comfortable and comfortable, not like you're trying to look like someone else.
Step 2. Find out what your body shape is
Knowing your physique will help you dress in a way that will accentuate the best parts, while hiding the ones that don't suit you. Here's how to figure out what shape your body is by measuring it.
- Measure shoulders, chest, waist and hips with a tape measure. You may need someone's help to do this.
- Inverted Triangle: If your shoulders or chest are wider than your hips, you have this type of physique. The shoulders or bust should be at least 5% larger than the hips.
- Rectangle: If your shoulders, torso and hips are roughly the same size, without a defined waistline, this is your body type. The difference between the shoulders, chest and hips should not exceed 5%, while the waistline should be 25% narrower (at most) than the shoulders or torso.
- Triangle: If your hips are wider than your shoulders, this is your body type. The hips should be at least 5% wider than the shoulders or bust.
- Hourglass: If your shoulders and hips are nearly the same size, with a defined waist, this is your body type. The difference between the measurement of the hips and shoulders should not exceed 5%, while the waist size should be at least 25% narrower than the shoulders, hips and bust.
Step 3. Dress according to your figure
Now that you know your body type, you can choose the clothing items that will enhance it the most.
- Inverted triangle. The torso part should be relatively simple and clean, with no details that might make it thicker. Wear clothes that create more volume from the hips down to balance this area with your torso. For example, wear a simple V-neck top, a wide belt, and a pair of high-waisted wide-leg pants.
- Rectangle. With this type of body, the goal is to define the waist, in order to create a figure that is more reminiscent of the hourglass. To do this, wear trousers and skirts with decorations that hint at curves. Choose fitted shirts that shape the waistline. Avoid dresses that are boxy or with a visible waistband.
- Triangle (or pear). The goal is to achieve a good balance between the torso, hips and legs. You can do this by wearing clothes and accessories that create volume in the bust area, making your shoulders appear wider. Try not to bulge the lower part of the body: wear clothing with simple and clean lines, without decorations.
- Hourglass. Wear clothes that fit snugly to the body. Tight-fitting garments are generally preferable, in fact they tend to accentuate the natural curves of this body. Avoid baggy clothes that hide the waistline, otherwise you risk looking stouter.
Step 4. Assess your height
In addition to your body shape, you also need to consider how tall you are. In particular, you need to figure out if your legs or torso are longer, as this will affect how you dress.
- If you have long legs, you should wear pants that fit your hips, paired with longer tops. Wear clothes that have a lower waistline to create a good balance.
- If you have short legs, you should wear high-waisted skirts and pants. Go for short shirts or tucked into pants to streamline your legs.
Step 5. Wear clothes of your size
Whatever garment you decide to wear, make sure it fits your size. Clothes that are too loose or tight will not flatter you at all and can also make you feel less confident.
Advice
- Remember to be patient, especially if you have made any lifestyle changes (such as diet and exercise) to lose weight. It can take at least a month before you start noticing results, but eventually you will see and feel the effects of the change.
- To begin to understand which models of clothes and hairstyles would suit you, inspired by celebrities, because they are often recommended by professionals in the fashion world. Just remember to always make your style unique and to be yourself.
- If you are concerned about the potential hazards of dyeing, you may naturally lighten or darken your hair. You could also use henna. With the exception of henna, natural methods only change the color by a couple of tones, so don't expect drastic changes.
- If you are not sure how to put on make-up, you could find out about the make-up sessions organized by the great perfumeries. They are often free, although a purchase is usually expected later.
