Steps
Part 1 of 3: Starting the bracelet
Step 1. Choose a media
You need a surface on which to make the bracelet. You can use plastic wrap or even a strip of cardboard. The width of the strip will be the width of your bracelet, while the length must be a little less than the desired length of the bracelet. Cut the strip to size using scissors.
Step 2. Align the wires on the holder
You can use embroidery floss or nylon threads; line up the odd-numbered threads (e.g. nine) of the color you want across the length of the media. The wires must be at least 10-12 cm more than the support, both on one side and on the other. Secure the threads by wrapping them around the back of the holder and making neat knots at one end.
Step 3. How to make the intersections
According to the letters you want to make, change the way the threads are woven. The threads forming the letters can be moved to the right or left, and then the background threads will be wrapped around the backing or on top of the letter.
Step 4. Wrap the first few lines
Before starting the letters, wrap a few threads of the background color. The letters must be in the center of the bracelet.
Step 5. Experiment
It is best to do some tests before making the letters, so as to understand well how to cross the threads and obtain different results. Try a little to see the possible reasons.
Part 2 of 3: Making the letters
Step 1. Do the A
Place the threads to make the letters on the left, wrap the background thread four times around the holder. Fold the strands to make the letters over the background strands and then move the upper and middle letter strands to the left. Make two turns with the background thread, and turn all the letter threads to the left again. Make four turns with the background thread. Bring all the letter threads back to the right. Make new turns with the background threads, if necessary.
This procedure can also be used to make the I, the H, the L, the U, the O or the T
Step 2. Do B
Start with the top and bottom strands for the letters to the left. Wrap the background threads twice on the holder. Bring the rest of the letter threads to the left and wrap the background thread three times. Then with the top, bottom and middle strands that are on the left, wrap the background color twice. Bring the middle threads for the letters to the right and two sections of the remaining threads to the left. Wrap the background thread around the center three times. Bring all the threads from left to right and wind the background thread once or more as needed.
This procedure can be modified to make the P
Step 3. Do the C
Place all the threads for the letters to the left, wrap the background threads four times, leave the top and bottom threads for the letters on the left and move the others to the right, wrap the background threads four times, move the letter threads towards right and rewind the background threads once or more as needed.
This process can be modified to make E and F
Step 4. Make the D
Place the two upper and lower threads to make the letters to the left and the others to the right and wrap the background thread twice on the support. Move all the threads to make the letters to the left and wind the thread for the background three times. Bring back all the threads for the letters, and put the first two and the last two on the left again, wrap the background thread twice, bring the threads back to the bottom and top, place the ones you had on the right along with the others on the left and wind the background thread once. Take the top and bottom strands that are on the left and bring them over to the right and make a loop. Bring all the threads back to the right and wrap the background thread one or more times.
Step 5. Do the J
Place the first three threads on the top left, wrap the background thread three times, bring all the threads back except the top right ones, wrap them once, put it all the way to the left, and wind the background thread three times. Bring everything back to the right and wrap the background thread once, or more if necessary.
This procedure can be modified to make the S and G
Step 6. Do the K
Bring all the threads to make the letters to the left, wrap the background thread four times, place all threads except the middle ones to the right, wrap the background thread twice, place the letter threads so that the ones in the center are on the right and the others on the left, wind the background thread once. Take the first and last thread from the center and push them to the right, wrap them once, take the other two neighbors and wrap them once more, until you wrap all the threads and the letter is done.
This procedure can be modified to make the Q or R
Step 7. Do the M
Place all the letter threads on the left, wrap the background thread four times, and bring the threads back to the right and divide them into two bunches. The upper half is placed on the right and wrapped twice. Make the top half to the left and the bottom half to the right and wrap twice. Bring the top half back to the right again and wrap twice. Cross the two sides to the left and wrap four times. Bring everything back to the right and wrap once, or more if necessary.
This process can be modified to make the N, Z, Y or W
Part 3 of 3: Finishing the bracelet
Step 1. Tie the background thread
Tie the background thread to the back of the bracelet.
Step 2. Knot the ends of the colored threads
Step 3. Weave and knot the ends of the letter threads
Make a single thread with all the letter threads and tie them all together. Tie a firm knot at the end. The two ends will then be tied together on the wrist.
Step 4. If you want you can put a ribbon
Take small squares of ribbon, punch a hole in the middle, thread the two ends of the bracelet and press the ribbon to cover the end of the bracelet. You can wrap the end with tape so that it is more resistant. Insulating tape is ideal.
Advice
- Don't be discouraged. Making a bracelet is harder than you think, but it's fun.
