Blackheads form when sebum, dead skin cells and bacteria get trapped in the pores. They tend to appear on the face, but sometimes they can also appear in the ears: to eliminate them from this area it is possible to use both professional products and natural remedies. You can also take steps to prevent blackheads from forming in the future.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Doing Professional Treatments
Step 1. Use a glycolic acid based cleanser
Glycolic acid is a chemical that helps expel blackheads and narrow pores. Tilt your head to the side and apply a cleanser containing this active ingredient to your ears using a cotton ball. Massage it carefully focusing on the areas where the blackheads are located. Leave it on for 10 seconds.
- Some solutions require longer shutter speeds. Follow the directions of your doctor or the instructions on the product packaging.
- Do not apply glycolic acid in the inner ear, only on the outer area.
- Remove the glycolic acid using a clean, moistened cotton ball. Be careful not to leave any residual water in the ear. Repeat the procedure 1-2 times a day.
- After a week of use the blackheads should start to go away, and the skin should be much more compact and clean.
Step 2. Remove blackheads with salicylic acid
This active ingredient helps exfoliate blackheads and eliminate them. Pour a small amount of salicylic acid-based cleanser onto a cotton ball, then tilt your head down before proceeding with the application. Let it act respecting the installation times indicated on the package.
- Never apply salicylic acid in the inner ear, only on the outer area.
- Remove it with a clean, moistened cotton swab, avoiding water getting into your ear. Repeat the procedure 1-2 times a day.
- Blackheads should start to go away after 1-2 weeks of use.
Step 3. Apply a clay mask to your ears
Clay masks are effective in removing dirt and bacteria residue from pores, thus also eliminating blackheads. Tap a small amount of product on the affected area. Leave on for 5-10 minutes, or follow the instructions on the package, then rinse with warm water.
- Do not apply it in the inner ear area, only on the outer one.
- The mask can be done once a day to get rid of blackheads.
Step 4. Do not squeeze or touch the blackheads, otherwise it will only inflame and further irritate the area
You also risk contaminating other parts of your ears, causing further impurities to form. Instead, go for a professional or natural treatment and let the blackheads go away on their own.
You should also avoid using blackhead extractors and other tools designed to remove impurities. They can cause scarring and permanent damage
Method 2 of 3: Using Natural Remedies
Step 1. Apply tea tree oil to blackheads
This product has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Helps to dry and thus eliminate blackheads. Pour 1 to 4 drops of the oil onto a moistened cotton ball, then apply it directly to the affected area.
- You can leave it on overnight to dry blackheads. Make sure you secure it firmly to prevent it from falling back into your ear while you sleep.
- You can also let it sit for 5 minutes and then repeat the application with a clean cotton ball several times a day.
Step 2. Make a baking soda mask
Baking soda is a good exfoliant and helps remove blackheads quickly. Make a paste by mixing a teaspoon of baking soda and half a teaspoon of water. Apply it to blackheads with clean fingers. Let it dry for 5-6 minutes, then wash it off with warm water.
Apply the paste once a day. Do the treatment for 3-4 days
Step 3. Try applying lemon juice to blackheads
Lemon juice is very effective in drying them naturally. Mix a tablespoon of lemon juice with a teaspoon of water. Soak a cotton ball, then apply the mixture to the affected area.
- Apply the mixture several times a day with a clean cotton ball.
- If lemon juice irritates your skin or causes burning, rinse it off immediately.
Method 3 of 3: Preventing Blackheads in the Ears
Step 1. Keep your hair clean, especially around the ears
Hair is primarily responsible for the spread of dirt and bacteria. Make sure you wash them regularly to avoid getting them dirty, especially around the ears. Contact of dirty hair with ears can cause blackheads to form, especially while sleeping or during a training session.
If you have long hair, tie it up while exercising or before bed so it doesn't touch your ears. This can reduce the likelihood of blackheads forming in the area
Step 2. Make sure the headphones and earphones are clean
Check them to see if they have any traces of grease, sweat or dirt. Wash them carefully with a cotton swab dipped in soap and water, focusing on the area that comes into direct contact with the ears. Keeping them clean reduces the concentration of dirt and bacteria in this area.
Get into the habit of washing headphones and earphones regularly to keep them clean
Step 3. Avoid sticking your fingers in your ears
Fingers cause bacteria and dirt to spread. Try not to put them in your ears or touch the surrounding area, otherwise you risk contaminating them, causing blackheads to form.
Warnings
- Do not leave acids (such as glycolic or salicylic acids) on the skin for more than a minute if it is sensitive.
- If you notice swelling, inflammation, pain, or warm skin to the touch, see a dermatologist. They can be symptoms of an infection.
