Sushi is undoubtedly delicious, but why not try to prepare it differently than usual? Try to modify the recipe using some fruit: you will get some sweet sushi, perfect for dessert.
Ingrediants
- 1 ½ cup of sushi rice
- 2 cups of water
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 cup of coconut milk
- 1 ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Fruit (whatever you want, for example pineapple, kiwi, mango, banana, strawberries, etc.)
Steps
Step 1. Wash the rice
Pour it into a large bowl and fill it with water. Wash it with your hands until the water turns a milky white color, then drain it.
Step 2. Cook the rice
In a thick-bottomed saucepan, add water, rice, salt and sugar. Let it simmer. Lower the heat and continue to cook the rice for 12-15 minutes.
Step 3. Add the coconut milk
Once the rice has absorbed the water, pour some coconut milk into the pot.
Step 4. Let the rice cool
Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to let it cool.
Step 5. Cut the fruit into long sticks, just like you would cut the ingredients commonly used to make sushi
Step 6. Sprinkle the rice on a sheet of cling film with your hands or a spoon
Create a rectangular shape.
Step 7. Place the fruit on the rice about 2/3 away from the edge
Proceed with care.
Step 8. Roll up the sushi
After placing the fruit, roll the sushi in a compact but delicate way, creating a sort of trunk. Make sure it doesn't unwind.
Step 9. Serve him
Place the sushi roll on a plate. Accompany it with thinly sliced melon, merci shoga, and fresh fruit puree (instead of soy sauce). Don't forget to eat it with chopsticks!
Advice
- To make an onigiri, make a rice ball and garnish it with a thin slice of fruit.
- Keep a small bowl of water next to you to soak your hands when rolling the sushi to prevent it from sticking.
- For an even more authentic result, accompany the sushi with a cup of green tea.
- Sprinkle some chocolate syrup on the sushi to add a pinch of creativity and make it even sweeter.
- If you have a sushi mat available, go ahead and use it.
- Soy sauce can be substituted for chocolate syrup, while wasabi can be substituted with lime yogurt.
