This article describes how to insert a hyperlink (hyperlink or link) within an email message. When the recipient of the message clicks on the portion of text that contains the link, they will be directed to the website.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Gmail
Step 1. Open your Gmail account
If you are already logged in, you should see your inbox.
If you are not logged in yet, enter your email address and password before clicking Come on.
Step 2. Click on the WRITE button
It is located in the upper left corner of the page. This operation opens a window in the right portion of the screen where you can write your message.
Step 3. Enter the information
This means entering the recipient's e-mail address in the field marked "To", filling in the "Subject" field (optional) and composing the message text in the space below.
Step 4. Select the text in which to insert the link
Click and drag the mouse cursor over the entire text you want to turn into a hyperlink; in this way you highlight the text.
Step 5. Click on the "Insert Link" icon
It is represented by a chain and is located at the bottom of the "New Message" window.
Step 6. Type the URL
Enter it in the "Web address" field located below the one that shows the highlighted text.
Step 7. Select OK
You can see it in the lower left corner of the window. By doing so, you link the URL of the web page to the text you have selected; when you send the message and the recipient opens it, they can click on the text portion and access the online site.
Method 2 of 4: Yahoo
Step 1. Open Yahoo account
This will take you to the main page of Yahoo.
If you are not already logged in, click on Log in in the top right corner of the page, type your email address, password and select Come on.
Step 2. Click on Mail
It's in the upper right corner of the Yahoo main page.
Step 3. Select Dial
You can see it in the upper left corner of the screen.
Step 4. Enter the message information
This means typing the recipient's e-mail address in the "To" field, a relevant reference to the message in the "Subject" field (optional) and the body of the letter in the area below.
Step 5. Select the text in which to insert the link
Click and drag the cursor over the text you want to turn into a hyperlink; this way you highlight the words.
Step 6. Click on the "Insert Link" icon
It looks like a chain and is located at the bottom of the page.
Step 7. Type the URL
Enter it in the "URL" field located below the one containing the selected text.
Step 8. Select OK
It is the button at the bottom left of the window; in this way, you link the web address to the words you have selected, which means that when the recipient clicks that piece of text they can view the website.
Method 3 of 4: Outlook
Step 1. Open Outlook account
If you are already logged in, this operation allows you to view your inbox.
If you are not logged in yet, click on Log in, enter your email address (or phone number), password and select Come on.
Step 2. Click + New
This button is located above the inbox list and allows you to open a new window on the right side of the page where you can create a new message.
Step 3. Enter the information
This means typing the recipient's e-mail address in the "To" field, a relevant reference to the message in the "Subject" field (optional) and the body of the letter in the area below.
Step 4. Select the text in which to place the hyperlink
Click and drag the mouse cursor over the text you want to turn into a link, in order to highlight the words.
Step 5. Click on the "Insert Link" icon
It looks like two overlapping circles.
Step 6. Type the URL
Enter it in the text field to the right of "URL:".
Step 7. Click OK
This button is located at the bottom of the window; in doing so, you connect the link to the highlighted text; when you send the email and the recipient opens it, they can view the web page by clicking on the text.
Method 4 of 4: iCloud Mail for Desktop
Step 1. Open iCloud account
While it is not possible to insert hyperlinks by writing an email message from the iPhone, you can add them from the iCloud Mail for desktop site.
If you are not already logged in, enter your Apple ID, password and click on the → button
Step 2. Select Mail
It's the blue icon with a white envelope.
Step 3. Click on the icon representing a pencil and a square
It is located at the top of the iCloud Mail page; selecting it opens a new window where you can compose your message.
Step 4. Enter the information
This means typing the recipient's e-mail address in the "To" field, a relevant reference to the message in the "Subject" field (optional) and the body of the letter in the area below.
Step 5. Click on the A icon
You can find it in the upper right corner.
Step 6. Select the text for the hyperlink
Click and drag the mouse cursor over the text you want to turn into a link, in order to highlight the words.
Step 7. Click the www button
Located near the top right corner of the page, it opens a new window containing the highlighted text and a "URL" field.
Step 8. Type the URL
Enter it in the appropriate field below the one where the highlighted text is shown.
Step 9. Click OK
This operation saves the link which is now linked to the text you previously selected; when the recipient opens the message, they can click the link and access the website.
