This article explains how to change the Google Chrome wallpaper. If your browser version is up to date, you can use the "New Tab" window to use a personal image as a background or to use one of the backgrounds provided by Google. You can also set a graphic theme through the Google Chrome settings menu.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use the New Tab Page
Step 1. Start Google Chrome by clicking on the icon
It is characterized by a red, yellow and green circle with a blue sphere in the center.
If Chrome is not updated with the latest version available, click the button ⋮ located in the upper right corner, select the item Guide, click on the option Information about Google Chrome, click on the button Update and finally click on the button Restart after the update is complete.
Step 2. Open a new tab if necessary
If the "New Tab" page is not displayed, click on the icon ＋ to the right of the last tab you opened, it's visible at the top of the Chrome window. A new blank tab will appear.
Step 3. Click on the "Settings" icon
(or "Customize").
It is located in the lower right corner of the page. A drop-down menu or small pop-up will appear.
Step 4. Click on the Upload Image option
It is one of the options in the pop-up that appeared or in the drop-down menu. The "File Explorer" (on Windows) or "Finder" (on Mac) dialog box will appear.
You can click on the option Chrome wallpapers if you want to use one of the background images provided by Google.
Step 5. Select the image to use
Go to the folder where the image you want to use as wallpaper is stored, then click it once with the mouse.
If you have chosen the option Chrome wallpapers, simply click on the image you want to use as a background.
Step 6. Click the Open button
It is displayed at the bottom of the window. This way, the chosen image will be used as the background of the Chrome "New Tab" page.
If you have chosen to use the Chrome wallpapers, click on the button end located in the lower right part of the window.
Method 2 of 2: Use a Theme
Step 1. Start Google Chrome by clicking on the icon
It is characterized by a red, yellow and green circle with a blue sphere in the center.
Step 2. Click on the ⋮ icon
It is located in the upper right corner of the Chrome window. The browser main menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Click on the Settings item
It is one of the options present in the menu that appeared. The "Settings" tab will be displayed.
Step 4. Scroll down the menu that appeared to be able to click on the Themes item
It is displayed at the top of the "Appearance" section.
Step 5. Select one of the available themes
Scroll through the list of themes until you find the one you want to use, then click on the corresponding name to select it.
Step 6. Click the Add button
It is blue in color and located at the top right of the theme page. This way, the chosen theme will be installed on Chrome. Depending on the type of theme you have selected, the top of the Chrome window may change in appearance and color.
