This article explains how to post an image on the Imgur website using a mobile device or computer.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Mobile Device
Step 1. Launch the Imgur app
Touch the dark gray icon inside which the word "imgur" is visible.
Step 2. Tap the camera icon
It is located in the lower center of the screen.
- If you have not already logged into Imgur from your device, you will need to press the button first Sign in and enter your account email address and password.
- If you are using an Android device you will need to slide your finger across the screen to the left before you can log in.
Step 3. Select a photo
In the screen that has appeared, all the images in the multimedia gallery of the device will be visible. Tap the photo you want to post to select it.
- If requested, authorize the Imgur app to have access to the device's camera and photos stored in the internal memory.
- You can select more than one photo at the same time.
Step 4. Press the Next button
It is located in the upper right corner of the screen. On some versions of Android you will have to press the check mark button.
Step 5. Enter the post title
Type it in the "Post Title (required)" text field that appears at the top of the screen.
Step 6. Edit the image if necessary
You can add a description or tags using the text field located at the bottom of the screen.
You can also select the item Add Images placed under the photo in question to be able to select other images to add to the post.
Step 7. Press the Post button
It is located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 8. Press the Upload button when prompted
The selected image will be published on Imgur.
Method 2 of 2: Computer
Step 1. Log in to the Imgur website
Visit the URL
Step 2. Click on the New post button
It is green in color and is located at the top of the main page of Imgur. The upload window will appear.
- If you are not logged in to Imgur, click on the button first Sign in located on the upper left side of the page, then enter your email address and password.
- Click on the down arrow that you see next to the button in question to display a drop-down menu that will allow you to choose between different options (for example Make a Meme).
Step 3. Click the Browse button
It is located in the center of the pop-up window that appears.
Step 4. Select the image you want to publish
If you need to perform a multiple selection of photos, click them one at a time while holding down the ⌘ Command (on Mac) or Ctrl (on Windows) key.
- Alternatively, you can drag the image in question (or the selection of photos) directly into the loading window of the Imgur website.
- If the image you want to publish on Imgur is already online, you can use the corresponding URL by copying and pasting it into the "Paste Image or URL" text field.
Step 5. Click the Open button
The image you have chosen will be published on the Imgur website.
If you have chosen to drag the image directly to the Imgur upload window you can skip this step
Step 6. Add a title to the photo
Enter it in the text field at the top of the image itself.
Step 7. Edit the image if necessary
You can add a description or tags using the text field located at the bottom of the photo. You can also tag another person by typing the "@" symbol followed by the corresponding username.
Click on the link Add another image, placed under the chosen image, to select other photos to be included in the post.
Step 8. Click the Share to community button
It is green in color and is located on the right side of the page. The selected photo will be published on the Imgur website.
Advice
- Make sure you mention the origin or source of any photos you upload to your account if you didn't create them yourself.
- You can change the privacy settings of each image by selecting the item Public displayed above the photo (on mobile device) or by clicking on the drop-down menu Post privacy placed on the right of the post (if you are using a computer).
