Fishing in Minecraft is a great way for your character to get food. Having a fishing rod and any body of water, fishing will be very simple.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Build a Fishing Rod
Step 1. Make a fishing rod, if you don't have one yet
Method 2 of 3: Choosing the Right Time to Fish
Step 1. If possible, fish when it rains
During the rain your fishing will be richer and the water will be directly exposed to the sky. On average, during the rain it is possible to catch a fish every 15 seconds. When it doesn't rain, however, the times expand to 25 seconds.
Method 3 of 3: Casting the Fishing Line
Step 1. Look for a body of water
Step 2. Right click to cast the line into the water
Step 3. Wait for the float to appear on the surface of the water
Initially the float will sink, and then rise to the surface of the body of water. When a fish arrives, you will hear the sound of the float as it sinks, and you will need to immediately reel in to be able to catch it. If you have performed the movement correctly you will see a raw fish come out of the water and land next to your character. If you don't see it near you, look around (in case it hit a solid block it might have landed elsewhere).
If you don't have the right timing, the fish will flee
Step 4. If you don't catch anything, the line will disappear after 60 seconds
Recreate it again to make it reappear.
