If you are reading this article, you will most likely already know how to throw a knife. Or you are simply interested and find knife throwing interesting. There are two methods of throwing a knife without twisting it: one is with the Modified Hammer Grip, and the other is the Pinch Grip.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Method 1: Modified Hammer Grab
Step 1. Hold the knife by the handle, in your fist, as if you were holding a hammer (hence the name)
But (this is the "modified" part) then place your index finger along the back of the knife (the top edge). Now it almost looks like you are pointing your finger.
Step 2. Keep your arm in front of you, with the elbow bent at 90 ° and the index finger pointing towards the sky
Step 3. Bring your hand up and back, and then sprint it forward towards your target, rotating your hand so that the index finger points directly to the target
If it rotates forward, try to move your index finger down when you are about to throw it. This movement should prevent the forward momentum from spinning the knife. If it turns backwards, you decrease the force of the downward movement of the index finger.
Method 2 of 2: Method 2: Pinch Pinch
Step 1. Using this grip, you will need to use your middle finger to find the knife's point of balance (the center of gravity)
Step 2. Pinch the blade on the balance point between your thumb and middle finger, and extend your index finger on the back of the blade
Step 3. Extend your arm out at a 90 ° angle to the body, with the forearm bent and the hand close to the ear, and the index finger pointing behind you
Step 4. Snap your hand forward, holding the knife without squeezing it
The knife should fly from your hand, straight to the target.
Advice
* The reason these techniques work is the index finger; or, in the case of the "pinch" grip, it is the thumb. Once thrown, the knife rotates around its center of gravity. The index on the back of the knife counterbalances the rotation of the blade making it fly straight to the target.
Warnings
- Be aware that the knife could bounce back towards you (or those around you). Use the same precautions you would use with firearms.
- Also, use common sense. Do not throw no knives in someone's direction, no matter how annoying they are.
- Use common sense (again) and don't carry your throwing knives in a bag / backpack / suitcase that can be searched by a public official (for example at the airport) as they will be kidnapped.
- Throw your knives at a wooden plank, possibly thick. Do not throw them on the house wall. This would damage the blade, costing you a throwing knife.
- You're throwing a knife. Remember it! You're throwing a small, possibly sharp, or at least something sharp, at a target! Use caution.
