The knots of the necklaces are incredibly complicated to untangle and, unfortunately, the longer and thinner the chain, the harder it will be! Pulling the knot over and over can be frustrating, make the situation worse, and even worse, cause the necklace to break! But don't worry, there is a quick and easy solution to untie the knots of your necklace.
Steps
Step 1. Open the closure
If your necklace has a hook, latch, or anything else to close it, unhook it. If you have multiple tangled necklaces, open all the hooks.
Opening the hook will allow you to separate the two sides of the necklace to slide them through the knot
Step 2. Lay your necklace (or necklaces) on a flat, hard surface
Spread the necklace as much as possible on the plane.
- Enlarging the necklace will allow you to see the knot better and will avoid confusion if there is a large tangle.
- The flat, hard surface will provide you with stability as you start knitting the knot, preventing more knots from forming in the process.
Step 3. Apply oil to the node
Dab a drop of baby oil or olive oil on the knot of the necklace. Gently massage the oil into the knot until you think it has infiltrated well into the crevices of the knot.
The oil will loosen the link of the necklace making it slippery and easier to melt
Step 4. Untangle the knot with needles
You can use one or two needles to separate the chains joined in the knot. Sewing needles or a safety pin will work fine.
- “For a needle”: insert the tip of the needle into the central part of the knot. Move the needle back and forth until the knot begins to loosen. Once the knot is untied, you can use a finger to separate the two sides of the necklace: finally the knot is open enough to untie it.
- “For two needles”: insert both tips of the needles in the central part of the knot. Pull the needles over and over until the knot begins to loosen. Once the knot is untied, you can use a finger to separate the two sides of the necklace: finally the knot is open enough to untie it.
Step 5. Remove the oil
Once the necklace has been untangled, you can remove the oil you previously applied and clean the necklace with a jewelry cleaner. The jewelry cleaner comes with a brush to clean. Gently brush the oiled area of the necklace using the brush and rinse.

Advice
- Keep the enlarged necklace flat until the knot is completely untied.
- Don't pull too hard or the necklace could break!
