Using a blow dryer and straightener to straighten your hair could give you a good result, but over time it will damage your hair. Here is a simple method that does not involve the use of heat or curling tools, ideal for giving a nice look to wavy hair!
Steps
Step 1. Apply shampoo and conditioner as usual
Step 2. Gently blot wet hair with the towel
Rubbing them can make them frizzy and cause split ends. Do not brush or comb your hair!
Step 3. After absorbing the excess water from your hair, tousle it with your fingers and wrap it into a messy bun that is as high and soft as possible
Apply a flexible hold spray gel specifically for curly hair.
Step 4. Do not touch your hair until you are sure it is completely dry
Step 5. Undo the bun and use your fingers or a very wide-toothed comb to remove any knots
Apply more spray gel, but don't overdo it to avoid stiff-looking curls.
Step 6. That's it
If your hair is slightly frizzy, apply a taming gel or serum.
Advice
- This method is best suited to medium to very wavy hair, but it also works on straight hair by using a hefty amount of hairspray instead of gel (or an extra strong hold gel spray.)
- Here are some good products that may be useful to you, as wavy hair tends to be dry: TreSemmé shampoo for dry / damaged hair. Any quality conditioner will do. The Garnier Fructis line offers an excellent specific spray gel for curls.
- If you have to dry your hair with a hairdryer, use the cold air jet. Your goal is to give your hair a break from normal heat styling.
- A good disciplining product available online: Alberto V05 Smooth! Smoothing Souffle.
Warnings
- Don't overdo the amount of taming gel or serum, otherwise your hair will look greasy and heavy!
- Do not overdo the amounts of spray gel so as not to stiffen your curls. Unless that's the look you want to achieve.
- As mentioned, don't comb or brush your incomplete look, unless your hair is naturally curly. Brushing damp hair that is not naturally curly will cause split ends and unwanted frizz.
