Jojoba oil is extracted from a plant that grows in the middle of the desert. This amazing oil is usually used to treat and moisturize skin and hair. If you have dry, damaged hair, try integrating it into your beauty rituals. You will see that they will become beautiful and bright in no time!
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Do a No-Rinse Treatment with Jojoba Oil
Step 1. Buy jojoba oil
This product can be found in herbalist's shops, in shops selling personal care products and in well-stocked supermarkets. In general, it can be found in the section dedicated to skin care. Look for pure jojoba oil instead of beauty products that contain it in the ingredient list. If you have trouble finding it, ask a salesperson for help.
Step 2. Determine how often to treat your hair
Are they dry and damaged? Start by doing a leave-in treatment once a week. If they are dry but not particularly damaged, treat them every 2 to 3 weeks. Reduce the frequency of treatments if you start to notice them dull and greasy. Conversely, if they keep looking dry, use the product more often.
If you do too many treatments and your hair looks greasy, wash it to remove excess oil
Step 3. Apply the oil to your scalp
First, dip your fingertips into the bowl of oil, then massage it into your scalp. Make sure you cover the areas that tend to be overlooked most easily, namely the area behind the ears and the nape of the neck. Your goal should be to completely cover the scalp and about an inch of the hair starting from the roots.
Lean forward for easier access to the roots
Step 4. Apply the oil to the lengths
Once you have soaked your scalp, apply the oil to the rest of your hair. Pour it on a palm and distribute it over your hair. Apply it from root to tip trying to create a thick layer. Depending on the thickness of your hair, you may need to use more than you expect.
When in doubt, use more oil than you think you need. It is better to apply too much than too little
Step 5. Get the oil into your hair before washing
You can leave it on for 20 minutes or overnight. By letting it act longer, the oil will have more time to soften dry hair. At the end of the treatment, wash them as usual. If you have a lot of trouble getting rid of it, you may need to shampoo twice.
If you leave it on overnight, wear a shower cap to protect the pillowcase from oil stains
Method 2 of 2: Wash your hair with Jojoba Oil
Step 1. Mix the oil with the shampoo or conditioner
If you want to boost your hair's daily hydration, try mixing jojoba oil with your favorite shampoo or conditioner. First, pour a small amount of shampoo or conditioner into a small bowl. Then add a few drops of jojoba oil. Mix the ingredients with a spoon until you get a homogeneous mixture. Wash your hair and comb it as usual.
You should add more oil if your hair is particularly damaged. Experiment with different amounts to figure out which is best for your needs
Step 2. Make jojoba oil conditioner
In a bottle, mix 5 g of guar gum, 4 ml of jojoba oil and 250 ml of distilled water. You can also add a few drops of a nourishing essential oil, such as lavender or sandalwood. Shake the bottle well to mix the ingredients. Use the mixture as a post-wash conditioner.
Guar gum can be purchased at many health food stores, well-stocked supermarkets, and online
Step 3. Make a jojoba oil shampoo
First, prepare an infusion by boiling 120ml of distilled water with 2 tablespoons of dried peppermint leaves. Leave to infuse for 20 minutes. Filter the infusion and pour it into a large bottle. Add 60 ml of liquid castile soap, 2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin, ½ teaspoon of jojoba oil and ½ teaspoon of honey. Shake the bottle well to mix the ingredients.
- Liquid Castile Soap and Vegetable Glycerin can be bought at herbalist's shops, most well-stocked supermarkets and online.
- If you can't find dried peppermint leaves, replace them with peppermint tea. Just make sure this is the only ingredient.
