Promescent is an over-the-counter drug for the treatment of premature ejaculation (PE). When applied to the genitals with the correct dose before intercourse, it is able to numb the tactile sensation, allowing men suffering from this disorder to prolong the sexual experience. Promescent is a drug that will affect both your body and your partner's; for this reason it is good for both to know the risks before using it.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Apply Promescent
Step 1. Consider the time factor
You need to apply it at least ten minutes before sexual intercourse. Its anesthetic effect lasts up to an hour; if you spray it a few minutes or several hours earlier than necessary, it won't work.
Step 2. Prepare the package
If you are using the standard bottle with dosage adjustment, you need to prepare it first. Remove the small piece of plastic from the dispenser. Remove the cap with the child-resistant safety closure. Turn the bottle sideways and shake it for 10 seconds. You can now straighten the can again and slowly squeeze the pump delivery system. Press it about twenty times, waiting two seconds between each press. When the product comes out of the spout, stop.
Step 3. Evaluate the dosage
If you are using Promescent for the first time, you need to start with one or two sprays. Package directions suggest three puffs on the first try, but many men find this dose to be too strong an effect. It is not safe to spray the product more than 10 consecutive times. Each dose releases 10 mg of desensitizing lidocaine.
Step 4. Locate the frenulum
This is the most sensitive point on the penis. This is a small ridge of tissue under the tip of the penis.
Step 5. Apply 1-3 sprays
Drop the Promescent directly onto the penis or spray it on your fingers and use these to spread the drug onto the penis. You can repeat the application up to three times using the same method. Although three sprays are recommended, many men say one or two doses are more than enough. Apply the product to the frenulum or other areas that you consider sensitive.
- Remember to spread the product after each spray;
- Afterward, wash your hands immediately. Promescent traces on your hands could put your partner at risk of eye injury.
Step 6. Wait ten minutes
During this time, do not touch or wash the genitals. The skin must absorb the active ingredient. Wait for the drug to be absorbed in order to maintain a fair sensitivity; by doing so you also minimize the amount of anesthetic you transfer to your partner.
- After ten minutes have passed, wash your genitals with soap and water. If you don't, the traces of the drug could numb your partner's genitals.
- Do not be afraid to wash, the active ingredient has already been absorbed by the skin during the waiting time.
- However, if you soak the genitals, Promescent may lose its effectiveness. Do not bathe after application, just rub your penis with a damp cloth.
- Once the drug has been absorbed and you have washed your genitals, you can safely use both condoms and lubricants.
Step 7. Observe the results of the drug during sexual intercourse
Most users claim to be able to maintain sexual intercourse 2-3 times longer from the first application. Others, on the other hand, stated that they had found improvements starting from the third use. On the first try, you may find that the numbness is excessive or insufficient. You should also ask your partner if her genitals are anesthetized or not.
- If you wish, reapply the product. If you feel that the effect is not strong enough or has worn off, you can repeat the application. However, do not spray Promescent more than 10 times in total.
- If you used more than 10 doses on your first intercourse, avoid applying more.
- If you overdo the amounts of the drug, you may experience tactile numbness, loss of an erection and irritation.
- In the event of an overdose, immediately wash your penis with soap and water. If symptoms persist, see your doctor.
Step 8. Change the dosage
Based on the results obtained on the first attempt, you can increase or decrease the dosage or apply the drug to different places on the penis. If numbing the frenulum is not an effective tactic for you, try spraying the shaft or glans. By repeatedly using Promescent you can determine the correct dosage and method of application that best suits your needs.
Part 2 of 2: Deciding if Promescent is the Right Solution for You
Step 1. Talk to your partner
The effects of the drug are manifested not only on your body, but also on that of your sexual partners. Before using it, discuss with the other person the possible risks and side effects. It too may experience tactile numbness and irritation.
Inform your partner before receiving oral sex. Your mouth may go numb, especially if you haven't washed your penis well after applying the medication
Step 2. Get a trial pack
If you and your partner are unsure whether this product is right for your needs, buy a trial pack that contains enough product for 10 puffs. If satisfied, you can switch to the purchase of a standard package equipped with control of the dispensed dosage.
Step 3. Talk to your doctor
If you ejaculate frequently before five minutes have elapsed after intercourse, you should see your andrologist. PE is a common problem, but in some cases it could be related to a serious disorder. If you have symptoms of diabetes, thyroid changes, nerve damage, or prostate cancer, go to your doctor and raise your concerns.
Step 4. Check for allergies, illnesses and injuries
Promescent contains lidocaine. If you or your partner are allergic to this substance, do not use the spray. If after use one of you experiences irritation, rashes, itching and a burning sensation, stop using the drug.
- Check for cuts and scratches. Do not spray Promescent on irritated or broken skin.
- Observe your body and ask your partner to do the same to make sure both of you don't have any rashes, cuts, bumps, or other marks on your genitals.
- Do not use the product if your partner is pregnant or you believe she may be.
- If you or your partner are being treated for liver or kidney disease, do not use the Promescent.
Advice
- The Promescent is sold in two formats: trial pack and regular pack. It typically takes 3-4 uses before the product is able to optimize your sexual performance.
- The standard package contains enough product for about 60 puffs and is equipped with a dosage control device. This may be the best solution if you suffer from pathological premature ejaculation, if you have to use three or more sprays per application, or if you want to be sure of the dosage.
Warnings
- Promescent is a topical spray product and is safe for external use only. Do not ingest it and do not spray it near the eyes.
- If you ingest it, contact the poison control center and go to the nearest emergency room.
