Make sure the device is disconnected from the power supply before cleaning it, unless the manual states otherwise. Keep it clean by wiping it every week and removing air and water from the ducts before and after each use. Wash the tank in the dishwasher once every 1-3 months; use diluted vinegar or mouthwash to disinfect it along with the tip, handle and inner tubes. The recommendations in this article allow you to keep the device in perfect working order and in perfect hygienic conditions.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Clean the Reservoir
Step 1. Rub the device regularly
Remove the plug from the socket and clean the tank with a soft cloth and a neutral detergent without abrasive components; afterwards, rinse everything off with hot water. If you use the water jet frequently, do this once a week.
For example, use a damp cloth with a drop of mild liquid soap
Step 2. Wash the tank in the dishwasher
Disassemble it from the device, remove the valve (if possible) and set it aside. Put the tank upside down in the upper basket of the appliance and start a normal washing cycle; when finished, let the container dry in the open air.
- If you don't know how to disassemble the tank, consult the instruction manual or search online by typing the model of the water jet in your possession.
- In models with table-top unit, the tank is equipped with a black valve that must not be placed in the dishwasher; you can detach it by pressing it on the bottom.
- Do this deep cleansing once every 1-3 months.
Step 3. If possible, wash the valve
Hold it under running hot water by rubbing it continuously for 30-45 seconds. Expose it to air to dry and put it back on the tank keeping the convex side up; gently press it into place until all four tips are visible under the tank.
Both elements must be perfectly dry and clean before being reassembled
Method 2 of 3: Clean the insides
Step 1. Purge the internal ducts before and after each use
Remove the tank and put the device into action for at least 10 seconds. Turn it off and scrub the cavity in which the tank is inserted using absorbent paper; then put the tank back in place by tilting it slightly so that the cavity and hoses can dry in the air.
By doing so, remove the air and excess water, avoiding the proliferation of microorganisms and bacteria
Step 2. Run diluted vinegar into the water jet
Mix half a liter of hot water with 30-60 ml of white vinegar; pour the solution into the tank and activate the device until it has used up half of the liquid. Turn it off and place the handle in the sink letting the rest of the diluted vinegar drain slowly for 20 minutes.
- Disinfect the water jet with this mixture every 1-3 months.
- The vinegar eliminates the limescale deposits left by hard water.
- The acidity of the liquid kills the bacteria and dissolves the fat.
- You can replace the vinegar with a mouthwash diluted in equal parts with water.
Step 3. Rinse it off
Eliminate any traces of vinegar solution that are left in the device. Fill the tank with hot water and let it run through the unit and then fall into the sink.
Step 4. Do not put the tank back
Leave it on the shelf or place the water jet so that it is slightly tilted; this small precaution allows the internal cavity to remain in the air and dry.
Do not mount the tank until next use
Method 3 of 3: Clean the Handle and Tip
Step 1. Clean the handle
Press the button that releases the spray tip and fill a container with white vinegar. Dip the handle in the liquid and let it soak for 5-7 minutes; when finished, rinse it off with warm water.
The tip must be immersed separately from the handle
Step 2. Wash the spray tip
Press the release button and fill a bowl with white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. Leave the tip to soak for 5-7 minutes and then rinse with warm water.
Step 3. Replace it every 3-6 months
With the passage of time it becomes clogged due to limescale deposits and becomes less effective; you can order spare parts directly from the manufacturer.
By changing the spray tips regularly you keep the device in perfect working order
Warnings
- Do not immerse the entire unit in water.
- Never use bleach, iodine, baking soda, concentrated essential oils or salt; these substances can alter the functioning of the water jet and reduce its life.
- If you want to use a mixture other than that with vinegar or mouthwash, consult the instruction manual or the manufacturer's website to make sure it is compatible with your device.
