Ingrediants
- chicken wings
- Seed oil
- Seasoning (choice of marinade, batter or breading)
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Prepare the Chicken
Step 1. Decide whether to keep or remove the skin
Long considered an enemy of health, chicken skin has recently been reevaluated and appears to be allowed to eat now.
- The skin of the chicken will make your wings crisp and tasty.
- By removing the skin, the meat will absorb the marinade better.
Step 2. Season the chicken
Decide whether to marinate it, bread it or batter it.
Step 3. Make a marinade
Try mixing some teriyaki sauce, ginger, garlic, honey, and orange juice.
Soak your chicken in the marinade for at least two hours, the meat will absorb all the flavors
Step 4. Batter the chicken
- Make your batter with milk, flour and egg. Add some beer or soda water to make it softer and more airy.
- Dip the wings in the batter.
- Some recipes require the meat to be soaked in the batter for two hours.
Step 5. Bread the chicken
- Mix flour, breadcrumbs, and cracker crumbs.
- Cover the meat with the breadcrumbs.
- If you want extra crunch, dip the wings in milk or beaten egg before breading them.
Method 2 of 2: Fry the Chicken Wings
Step 1. Choose a quality seed oil and half fill a skillet or wok
Step 2. Line a large plate with paper towels and keep it handy
Step 3. Heat the oil to the right temperature
- If you have a cooking thermometer, check that it has reached 175–190˚C.
- Use medium to medium-high heat.
Step 4. Dip the wings in the boiling oil gently and carefully
Do not drop them to avoid creating dangerous splashes that could injure you. The size of your pan will determine how many wings can be cooked at one time.
Step 5. Occasionally, stir with a spoon or metal skimmer
Flip the chicken over carefully so that it cooks evenly. If you want, pour some oil on the side exposed to the surface with a ladle.
Step 6. Cook for about 5 minutes or until crisp and golden
Step 7. With a skimmer, or kitchen tongs, remove the chicken from the oil
Gently shake it on the pan to remove excess fat.
Step 8. Place it on the absorbent paper
Step 9. Repeat the steps to cook all the prepared chicken wings
Advice
- White spots on the chicken indicate that the meat is not fully cooked. Fry them until they completely disappear making your chicken golden brown.
- If you want to cut the meat to check its cooking, if it is still pink or red, continue with the frying!
- Remember to flip the wings to cook on both sides.
- Chicken wings are great dipped in an accompanying sauce. Choose your favorite sauce, buying it ready-made or preparing it in advance.
- Don't overheat the oil, or the chicken will burn on the outside and stay raw on the inside.
Warnings
- Never leave the pan unattended while frying.
- Keep yourself at the right distance from the pan.
