Warm whiskey is a great drink to warm up on cold winter days. Few people know that, in addition to being good, hot whiskey has healing powers on the flu and colds and is able to relieve sore throats.
Steps
Step 1. Boil some water
Step 2. While you wait, grab a medium sized glass, a red wine glass is perfect
Pour a generous teaspoon of brown sugar, you can also use honey, but avoid white sugar.
Step 3. Add enough whiskey
You decide the proportions since you will be the one to drink it. Keep the severity of your flu in mind as you make this decision, and remember that a big cold can require a large amount of whiskey to be cured.
Step 4. Stir to dissolve the sugar in the whiskey, try to dissolve any lumps
(If necessary refill with a small amount of whiskey, remember that it is a perishable product!)
Step 5. Rinse a lemon
Cut a slice from the center, it must be about 5 mm thick. Remove the seeds, they could ruin the flavor of your drink!
Step 6. Insert a clove into each section of the lemon wedge
Make sure they stay firm, so that they don't slip on the bottom of the glass when stirring, let them over the other side of the slice if they are very long.
Step 7. Place the back of a spoon on the glass (as in the photo) and pour over the now boiling water, in this way you will not risk to 'shock' the whiskey with the heat
Step 8. Stir again so that even the last few grains of sugar dissolve in the hot water, drop the lemon wedge into the glass as you turn
Step 9. Hold the glass with a napkin and drink your hot whiskey
Repeat the operation until the symptoms disappear!
Advice
Some whiskeys are more suitable than others for this preparation, try the Irish Bushmills or Powers, but leave the Jameson alone (although it is a great product)
Warnings
- Make sure the temperature of your hot whiskey is not too high before drinking it!
- Be careful when pouring boiling water into the glass, it may break.
