Simply start with the first step below or look at the sections listed above.
Steps
Method 1 of 6: Base Pocket Fold
Step 1. Fold the napkin in half
With the napkin lying face down in front of you, fold the top corners to the bottom corners (fold the napkin in half, towards you).
Step 2. Fold it in half again
Fold it in half again to make quarters.
Step 3. Fold the top corner
With the napkin oriented so that the corner with all the layers open is on the top left, fold the first layer back to the opposite corner.
Step 4. Flip it over
Flip the napkin carefully so that the diagonal goes from top left to bottom right.
Step 5. Fold it into thirds
Fold the right third of the napkin and then the left over the first to cover it.
Step 6. Thread
Tuck the left third into the triangle at the bottom of the right third crease, so it is held firmly in place.
Step 7. Flip it over and enjoy
Turn the package over and you will realize that you have created a nice pocket in which you can put the silverware!
Method 2 of 6: Pyramid Base Fold
Step 1. Fold the napkin in half
With the napkin flat, face down in front of you, fold it in half diagonally and move the open edge so that it faces away from you (the tip of the triangle must go up).
Step 2. Fold the corners back
Fold both the right and left corners, one at a time, so that they meet at the center corner. Your napkin should now look like a square or diamond.
Step 3. Turn over the napkin
Make sure you keep the orientation of the napkin constant, so that the open tip faces up.
Step 4. Fold the napkin in half again
Fold the top tip down to meet the bottom tip.
Step 5. Fold again
Fold the napkin along the central edge - the final pyramid will form. This often rests on a dinner plate and is a common fold style in restaurants.
Method 3 of 6: Bishop's Hat Fold
Step 1. Fold the napkin in half
With the napkin face down in front of you, fold it horizontally in half and orient the open sides away from you.
Step 2. Fold the top corner down
Fold the top right corner down until it touches the center.
Step 3. Fold the bottom corner up
Fold the bottom left corner up until it meets the center.
Step 4. Turn over the napkin
Turn the napkin so that the tips of the triangle point at the bottom and top respectively.
Step 5. Fold the base up
Fold the edge of the base up all the way to the top. The downward pointing triangle tip of the left triangle should remain.
Step 6. Unfold the right tip
Carefully, unfold the tip of the triangle on the right.
Step 7. Open the right triangle
Lift the right tip to open the triangle.
Step 8. Fold the tip from the left side
Take the far left corner and fold it in, creating an edge in the center of the bottom tip.
Step 9. Fold the top corner down
Fold the top corner of the triangle you opened back down.
Step 10. Turn the napkin over
You should be able to see the shape of the bishop's hat begin to take shape. There should now be two spikes on the top of the napkin and one point on the far right.
Step 11. Fold the corner over to the right end
Take the corner or point to the far right and fold to the left, tucking into the left triangle pocket. This should create a border in the center of the upper right triangle.
Step 12. Done
Prepare and enjoy your bishop's hat fold on napkin!
Method 4 of 6: Heart Fold
Step 1. Fold the napkin in half
With the flat napkin, face down in front of you, fold it in half diagonally and move the open edge so that it faces away from you (the tip of the triangle looks up).
Step 2. Fold the corners back
Fold back both the right and left corners, one at a time, so that they meet at the center corner. Your napkin should look like a square or diamond.
Step 3. Fold the top corners in
Take the top corner of each side and fold it inward so that the tips nestle in the right and left corner respectively. You should begin to see the basic shape of the heart.
Step 4. Turn the napkin over and fold the back
Turn the napkin over and fold the back layer so that it fades behind the opening in the center of the heart.
Step 5. Fold and round the top
Take the top right and left corners and fold them down, rounding the edge as you do so. This will create the final heart shape.
Step 6. Enjoy
Enjoy your heart fold on napkin! It is perfect for a romantic dinner or for Christmas parties.
Method 5 of 6: Christmas tree fold
Step 1. Fold the napkin in quarters
Fold the napkin in half (horizontally) and then in half again.
Step 2. Fold the corners back
Take each of the open corners, one at a time, and fold them up over the top one. Leave just a little space between each one each time (about 5mm between each edge).
Step 3. Turn over the napkin
Carefully keeping the folds, turn the napkin over.
Step 4. Fold the sides inward
Fold both the left and right sides, one at a time, until the tip of each stops about a third from the center and begins to create the shape of a triangle or Christmas tree. In general, it should look like a kite at this stage.
Step 5. Flip the napkin over again
Step 6. Fold the edges back
Fold the first layer up, forming a tight triangle and the tip of the Christmas tree. Fold each subsequent layer up, tucking the tip under each layer above. This will form the layers of the tree.
Step 7. Done
Once all the layers are folded, you are done! Enjoy your Christmas tree napkin.
