This article explains how to turn off all messages and notifications received from a group chat on Skype using a computer.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using a Mac
Step 1. Open Skype on your computer
The icon features a white "S" in a blue circle. You can find it in the "Applications" folder.
If you are not logged in, you will need to enter your email, phone number or Skype username and password to log in
Step 2. Click on a group in the left panel
All personal and group conversations are listed on the left side of the window. Find the group chat you want to silence and open it.
Step 3. Click on the group name at the top of the conversation
The chat name is at the top of the conversation. By clicking on it you will be able to see the chat details and settings in a new pop-up window.
If the group chat does not have a name, you will see the list of members. In this case, click on the names of the participants
Step 4. Scroll down until you find the "Group Options" section
It is located under the participant list, notifications and gallery.
Step 5. Hover your mouse cursor over the Notifications button to deactivate it
All notifications regarding messages and activity of the selected chat will be disabled. You will no longer receive emails, push notifications or pop-ups from this conversation.
Method 2 of 2: Using Windows
Step 1. Open Skype on your computer

If you do not log in automatically, you will need to enter your email, phone number or Skype username and password to log in
Step 2. Click on the Recent button
This button is located at the top left, under your name and profile picture. A list of all the latest personal and group conversations will open.
Step 3. Click on a group chat
Find the conversation you want to silence in the left panel and open it.
Step 4. Click on the group photo at the top of the screen
The group name and image appear at the top of the conversation. Clicking on the photo will open the chat details and settings in a new pop-up window.
Step 5. Uncheck the Notify me when something new happens box
This option is located within the "Conversation Notifications" section. Removing the check mark will disable all notifications regarding messages and chat activity.
