This article explains how to download and install Skype on a computer, smartphone or tablet. Skype is a free program, but a Microsoft account is required to log in.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: iPhone
Step 1. Access the iPhone App Store by selecting the icon
It is characterized by a stylized white letter "A" placed on a light blue background.
Step 2. Select the Search tab
It features a magnifying glass and is located at the bottom right of the screen.
If you are using an iPad, the Search for it may be located in the upper left of the screen.
Step 3. Tap the search bar
It is located at the top of the screen. The virtual device keyboard will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4. Type in the skype keyword
This will allow you to search for the Skype app in the App Store.
Step 5. Press the Search button
It is blue and is located in the lower right part of the virtual keyboard of the device. The App Store will search for the Skype app.
Step 6. Press the Get button
It's located to the right of the app name: "Skype for iPhone".
Step 7. Authenticate with Touch ID
When prompted, scan your fingerprint to confirm your choice. This way the Skype app will be downloaded and installed on the iPhone.
If you haven't enabled the use of Touch ID to authorize downloads from the App Store, press the button Install when prompted and enter your Apple ID password.
Step 8. Launch the Skype app
After the installation of the program is finished, you can start it by pressing the button You open appeared on the App Store page or by tapping the Skype icon that appeared on the iPhone Home. The Skype app will launch.
Step 9. Log into Skype
Enter your e-mail address (or phone number or account username) and password, then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Method 2 of 4: Android devices
Step 1. Access your device's Google Play Store by tapping the icon
It is characterized by a multicolored triangle placed on a white background.
Step 2. Tap the search bar
It is located at the top of the screen.
Step 3. Type in the skype keyword
A drop-down menu will appear containing the list of results.
Step 4. Select the Skype voice - free video calls and IM
It should appear at the top of the search results list. Selecting it you will be redirected to the Play Store page for the Skype app.
Step 5. Press the Install button
It is green in color and located on the right side of the screen.
Step 6. Press the Accept button when prompted
This way the Skype app will be downloaded and installed on the Android device.
Step 7. Start Skype
Once the download and installation are complete, press the button You open appeared on the Google Play Store page or select the Skype icon that appeared in the "Applications" panel of the device.
Step 8. Log into Skype
Enter your e-mail address (or phone number or account username) and password, then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Method 3 of 4: Windows
Step 1. Access the Start menu by clicking on the icon
It features the Windows logo and is located in the lower left corner of the desktop.
Step 2. Type in the keyword store
The Store app will be searched on your computer.
Step 3. Click on the Store icon
It is visible at the top of the "Start" menu. You will have access to the Windows Store.
Step 4. Click on the search bar
It is located in the upper right of the Windows store.
Step 5. Type in the skype keyword
A drop-down menu will appear which will contain the list of search results.
Step 6. Click on Skype
It should be the first option in the results list. You will be redirected to the store page for the Skype app.
Step 7. Click the Get button
It is located on the left side of the page. The Skype application will be installed on your computer.
If you have already installed the Skype app on your computer in the past, you will need to click on the button Install.
Step 8. Start Skype
Click on the blue button Start displayed on the store page. The indicated button will appear only after the Skype installation is complete.
Step 9. Log into Skype
In most cases, login will be automatic and your Microsoft account credentials will be used, but if not, enter your Microsoft profile email address and password, then click the button Log in located in the center of the program window. The Skype interface and all information and messages related to your account will be displayed.
If you are logged in automatically with a profile that you do not want to use, click on the button ⋯ located in the upper left of the application window, then click on the item Go out within the menu that appeared. At this point you can log in manually with the profile you want.
Method 4 of 4: Mac
Step 1. Log in to the Skype website
Enter the URL https://www.skype.com/ into your computer's internet browser.
Step 2. Click the Download Skype for Mac button
It is blue in color and placed in the center of the page. The Skype installation file will be downloaded to your Mac.
The Skype website will automatically detect your computer's operating system and offer you to download the correct installation file. In any case, check that this is really the case before downloading
Step 3. Wait for the download of the Skype installation file to complete
The time required to perform this step varies from a few seconds to several minutes, depending on the speed of your internet connection.
Step 4. Open the Skype DMG file
Double-click the corresponding icon to start the installation.
If prompted, authorize Skype to install using your Mac's "System Preferences" window to continue
Step 5. Install Skype
Drag the Skype app icon from the window showing the contents of the DMG file to the "Applications" folder, then release the mouse button. Skype will be installed on the Mac.
The Skype installation should take a few seconds to complete
Step 6. Click on the Applications folder
It is present in the left pane of the Finder window. Alternatively you can click on the menu Go at the top of the screen, then click on the item again Applications listed in the menu that appeared.
If the Finder window is not the one currently active, the Go it will not be visible at the top of the screen.
Step 7. Start Skype
Double-click the Skype icon after you locate it. The app login screen will appear.
Step 8. Log into Skype
Enter your e-mail address (or phone number or account username) and password, then follow the instructions that appear on the screen. At the end of the login you will be able to use the program.
