Have you written a fanfiction and want to publish it? Fanfiction.net is a popular website for posting your story. Read on to learn how to do it.
Steps
Step 1. Write your fanfiction
Step 2. Save the file in one of the following supported formats:
OpenOffice (.sxw,.odt), NeoOffice (.sxw), Microsoft Word (.doc,.docx), Microsoft Works (.wps), WinWord, WordPad (.rtf), StarOffice (.sdw), WordPerfect (.wp,.wpd), HTML (.htm,.html).
Step 3. Open your web browser
While posting on Fanfiction.net, you must allow pop-ups and the creation of new windows. If you don't know how to do this, check your browser's help manual (which you will likely find online).
Step 4. Go to the site and log into your account or create a new one
Step 5. Click on 'Publish' in the left sidebar and click on 'Doc Manager (Upload)'
Step 6. Type your story title in the 'Title' section of the purple bar
Step 7. Click on the button titled 'Browse'
A window will open allowing you to choose a file from your computer. Find your saved fan fiction and double click on it. The window will close and you will see the file name in the box to the left of the 'Browse' button.
Step 8. Make sure the 'History' option in the Format section is checked
(The option is usually pre-selected).
Step 9. Click the 'Submit Document' button
Step 10. If everything was done correctly, there should be a green message at the top:
"Document upload completed. The saved document will be listed below." Under the Document Manager section you should see your document. To edit or view the document click on 'Edit' at the bottom right.
Step 11. Click 'New Story' in the left sidebar just below Document Manager
Step 12. Accept the guidelines and then click 'New Story' again
Step 13. Select the correct story type and category for your story, then click Continue
A new screen should appear.
Step 14. Type the title of the story in the 'title' section
Step 15. Type your summary in the 'Summary' section
You have limited characters for this, so don't go too far or the description will be cut off.
Step 16. Select the language from the drop-down menu
Step 17. Select a rating
Read the guidelines so you know how to choose the rating for your story. Stories that exceed the highest score can be posted on adultfanfiction.net
Step 18. Select at least one genre
Step 19. Set the appropriate status
If this is a multi-chapter story that you haven't finished yet, set the 'Status' as in progress. When you load the last chapter, change the 'Status' to full.
To add more chapters, load the new chapter into a new document and go to the "Stories" section. Click on 'Edit'. Then click on 'content / chapters'. Select the document by chapter and click 'Add'
Step 20. Select the document and click on 'Submit History'
Step 21. Congratulations
Your story has been published!
