When you buy a leather jacket, you usually have to wait a while for it to soften when wearing it. However, this can take a long time, and you may not have enough patience; here are some tips to speed up the process.
Steps
Step 1. Understand what leather is
The skin comes from animals, and has many properties in common with human skin. When you have dry skin, you apply a lotion to soften it; the same also applies to leather jackets.
Step 2. Use a microfiber cloth to apply a cream to your leather jacket
The creams are readily available on the market. In addition to making the leather jacket soft and fluffy, they help protect it and keep it hydrated!
Step 3. Rub the cream deeply into the skin with firm touches of the cloth for best results
The more the jacket is moistened, the better the result!
Step 4. Once the entire jacket has been coated with the cream, rub it with your hands
Squeeze the leather all the way down, from the shoulders to the cuffs. This ensures that the cream settles well even in the smallest crevices of the jacket, thus achieving the best results.
Step 5. Once this is done, repeat the process with another layer of cream
Step 6. Take a hair dryer and turn it on to medium power
Do not use hairdryers that do not allow the power to be adjusted, as this can lead to bad results as it may be too hot or not hot enough. We just need to warm the jacket, as this will help absorb the cream and seal it. While drying the jacket, make sure the hair dryer stays at least 6 inches away from the jacket, and keep moving it, without dwelling on the same spot for too long.
Step 7. Once you're done, use another microfiber cloth that isn't soaked in cream and scrub the leather jacket again
This will help make it nice and shiny.
Advice
- When wearing it, move it as much as possible.
- Wear it as much as possible.
- Expose the jacket to moisture.
Warnings
- Whatever you do to care for or clean your leather jacket, first try the product you want to apply to a small, hidden part of the jacket, so you can be sure of any negative effect the product may have on your jacket before it's too late.
- Don't cut the sleeves unless you're sure of your business.
- Don't draw decorations on your jacket. It would be awful.
