Do you like using bubble baths, but don't like all the chemicals that make it up? You can experience the effect of a natural product on your skin by preparing one yourself. Not only will you decide which ingredients to make it with, but you can also customize it according to your needs. In this article, you will find several recipes to try.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Make a Honey Bubble Bath
Step 1. Gather what you need
For this honey-based shower gel, you will need 150ml of unscented liquid Castile soap, 85g of raw honey, two teaspoons of oil and 50-60 drops of essential oil. You will need a container that closes tightly, such as a bottle, jar, or even an old detergent package.
- You can use a natural oil of your choice, such as castor, coconut, grape seed, jojoba, ultra light olive, sesame, sunflower, or sweet almond oil.
- You will get additional benefits by adding a teaspoon of vitamin E oil; not only moisturizes and nourishes the skin, but helps extend the life of the bubble bath.
Step 2. Open the container and pour in the soap and honey
If the container has a small opening, such as a bottle or an old bubble bath, use a funnel. This will make it easier to introduce the ingredients without spreading the product.
Step 3. Choose natural oil and add it
You will need two teaspoons. The variety to use depends on what you have available and your preference. Keep in mind, however, that some skin types benefit more from certain oils; then evaluate which one is the most suitable for yours. Here are some suggestions:
- If you have dry skin, you should use very moisturizing oils such as ultra-light olive, almond, argan, avocado, canola, jojoba and safflower oils.
- A light oil, such as grape seed, sesame and sunflower oil, is more suitable for oily skin.
- If you have sensitive skin, it is best to use a nourishing oil such as avocado, coconut and flaxseed oil.
Step 4. Choose the essential oil of your choice and add it
Any type is fine, but keep in mind that some fragrances can contrast with the honey and base oil you use. Other oils, such as peppermint, are very strong and you will need to use less of them. Here are some essences and combinations you can use:
- Blend 45 drops of lavender essential oil and 15 drops of geranium for a fragrant, floral blend.
- Lavender has a classic scent, suitable for all skin types and can also help reduce stress and anxiety.
- Geranium has a floral fragrance. It is particularly suitable for oily and mature skin.
- Chamomile has a delicate scent that goes well with honey. It is ideal for sensitive skin.
- Rosemary, which forms a good combination with lavender, is refreshing and effective against acne.
- For a refreshing blend, you can use grapefruit, lemon, orange or sweet orange.
Step 5. Close the container tightly and shake
You will need to do this for a few minutes for the ingredients to mix together.
Step 6. Consider decorating the bowl
You can leave the bottle or jar as it is or you can make it more original by embellishing it with labels, cords and other decorations. You can make a large amount of bubble bath, pour it into small containers, and distribute them as cute freebies. Here are some ideas:
- Print a label and stick it on the bottle or jar.
- Make the jar more original by tying a string or ribbon around the lid.
- Decorate the bottle or jar with sticky gems.
- Adorn the cap or lid. You can paint the closing element with acrylic paint or apply artificial stones or decorated buttons with hot glue.
Step 7. Use the bubble bath
You can use it like any other store-bought cleaner. As it contains natural ingredients, it is advisable to use them within a year. You will need to shake the container every time you use it, as the ingredients tend to settle.
Method 2 of 3: Make a Milk and Honey Bubble Bath
Step 1. Get the ingredients
For this shower gel you will need 110 ml of coconut milk, 110 ml of unscented liquid Castile soap, 110 g of raw honey and 7 drops of essential oil. You will also need a container with a lid that closes tightly, such as a bottle, jar, or even an old bottle of cleaner.
Step 2. Pour in the coconut milk, castile soap and honey
Open the bowl and pour in all these ingredients. If you are using one with a small mouth, such as a bottle or an old bottle of bubble bath, you can use a funnel - this will help you transfer ingredients without spilling any product.
Step 3. Choose and add essential oil
Any kind is fine; that of lavender goes particularly well with coconut and honey. For a sweeter fragrance, consider vanilla essential oil.
Step 4. Close the container tightly and shake it
Shake for a few minutes until the ingredients are completely mixed.
Step 5. Consider decorating the bowl
You can leave it as it is or you can garnish it with tags, string and other ornaments. Since this bubble bath is perishable, it is not recommended to offer it as a gift. Here are some ideas for decorating it:
- Print a label and stick it to the bottle or jar.
- Wrap a piece of string or ribbon around the jar lid.
- Glue some buds to the bottle or jar.
- Garnish the lid of the container by painting it with an acrylic paint. You can also decorate it by hot gluing synthetic stones or extravagant buttons.
Step 6. Use your cleanser
You can use it like any other store-bought bubble bath. Since the ingredients you used are perishable, you will need to use it within two weeks or store it in the refrigerator. Also remember to shake the container every time you intend to use it, as the ingredients, over time, settle on the bottom.
Method 3 of 3: Make a Romantic Rose Bubble Bath
Step 1. Get the ingredients
For this product, you will need 450ml of unscented Castile soap, 225ml of rose water, 3 tablespoons of melted coconut oil, 15-20 drops of lavender essential oil. You will also need a one-liter jar to mix the bubble bath.
- If you don't have rose water, you can make it by mixing 12 drops of rose oil in 225ml of distilled water.
- After mixing the ingredients, transfer the product into smaller bottles or old bubble bath containers.
Step 2. Dissolve the coconut oil
Unlike most oils, coconut oil is very thick and solid. You will need to soften it before you can use it in this mixture, by heating it in the microwave for a few seconds or in a water bath.
Step 3. Pour all the ingredients into the jar
You will later transfer them to a smaller container.
If you mix rose water yourself, you will first need to prepare it in a separate container and then add it to the coconut oil, essential oil and soap
Step 4. Close the container tightly and shake
Keep doing this until all the ingredients are well mixed.
Step 5. You can now transfer your product to smaller containers
The one-liter jar is inconvenient to use in the shower. You can pour the product into smaller containers, such as jars, small glass bottles or old bottles of bubble bath. If the container you intend to use has a small mouth, such as a bottle, use a funnel for pouring. In this way there will be no product spills and you will avoid wasting it.
Step 6. Consider decorating your containers
You can leave the smaller vessels as they are, or give them a personal touch by embellishing them with labels, string and other garnishes. You can pour the cleanser into some vials and make small gifts. Here are some ideas for decorating them:
- Print a label and stick it on the bottle or jar.
- Wrap a string or ribbon around the jar lid.
- Decorate the bowl with some gems. You can glue them using hot glue or buy sticky gems.
- Adorn the cap or lid. You can paint the lid of the jar with acrylic colors and decorate the covers by hot gluing synthetic stones or original buttons.
Step 7. Use the bubble bath
You can use it like any other store-bought cleaner. Since the ingredients tend to settle, remember to shake the product every time you want to use it.

- Try experimenting with blends with two or more different essential oils.
- Decorate the containers you pour the bubble bath to make them absolutely unique.
- Pour the cleaner into smaller containers and offer them as gifts or party favors.
