On the Sunday before Easter, many Christians celebrate Palm Sunday. Commemorating Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, churches distribute palm leaves in remembrance of the people who waved and tossed these leaves to the ground in greeting during the passage of their messiah. A great idea to realize, then, is to weave a palm leaf in the shape of a cross and then offer it as a gift or hide it as a secret memory!
Steps
Step 1. Gently peel or tear off a palm leaf from the stem
It doesn't matter what type of palm, as long as it folds easily; just check the flexibility of the leaf before you peel it off, so check until you find the one that seems most suitable for this job.
Step 2. Hold the leaf with the tip pointing up
Step 3. Fold the leaf to the right under the middle until you get a 90 ° angle
Step 4. Fold once more
Then, one more time down. You should now get a small square.
Step 5. Curve the pointed end towards the back of the square and fold it back
Step 6. Take the tip in your left hand and form a loop towards you without making any turns
After that:
-
Insert and pull the tip through the square until it comes out the other side.
-
Pull it all up.
Step 7. Hold the square with one hand and pull both the broad and pointed parts of the leaf until it is firmly in place
You should now have obtained a 90 ° angle.
Step 8. Take the tip and turn it towards you, passing it into the square
This will be the head and base of the cross.
Step 9. Turn the piece 45 ° so that the pointed part is facing down and the wide part is to your right
Step 10. Now fold the wide part to your left
Step 11. Take it and form a loop, passing it through the square
Pull it until it reaches the same length as your head.
Step 12. Hold the leaf so that the wide, straight part is still to the left
Step 13. Take the wide part and form a loop that you will pass into the square
Pull it until it is roughly the same length as the other two loops. Make sure you fold it well inside the other loop so it doesn't show. The work is done!
Step 14. Finish
Advice
- Once you have mastered it, weaving will become an activity that will allow you to indulge in prayer and meditation and even a means to share with others to communicate peace.
- It may take some time to learn well, but keep trying even if it is difficult for beginners. Also, plant materials don't always respond as we want, so be patient; Patience is the virtue of the strong!
