The Net Asset Value (in English Net Asset Value or NAV) is a calculation that determines the price of a unit in a mutual fund. While stock prices fluctuate within minutes - or even seconds - a mutual fund's NAV is adjusted at the end of each business day, making it much easier for investors and brokers to keep track of. Here's how to calculate the NAV of a mutual fund in order to have reliable data to make decisions about possible investments.
Steps
Step 1. Determine the total value of the mutual fund's securities
This includes all short and long term assets held by the mutual fund
Step 2. Subtract the total liabilities of the fund on the securities to find the net worth
- You can search for these amounts for the mutual fund by searching on the internet for the name or symbol used on the stock market or on the official website.
- Websites that provide complete data for all types of investments probably don't also report financial data.
