Through these steps you will learn some ways to prepare for the stage. With this information you will be ready for anything from singing to dancing to reciting a dialogue.
Steps
Step 1. Learn your lines
Exercise makes you progress; so think that learning your lines is like studying for an exam where, in case of failure, everyone would know, and without you having the chance to repeat it. Use a highlighter to make your lines stand out on the page. As you study, say the words aloud. When you're not rehearsing in the theater, find a friend to recite the lines with you.
Step 2. The memorization of the song is just as important as that of the dialogue
Verses can be difficult. Study and examine them as much as you can. Sing in front of the mirror, so you can see what impression you make while singing - this helps you correct any mistakes you may have made.
Step 3. Dancing is difficult
You have to have the time and patience to work on it every day. Find the time and quickly learn the steps the right way, so you don't have to go back and slow down everyone else.
Step 4. Determine what emotions you want to arouse in the person you are saying (or singing) your lines to
Do you want to charm it, offend it, demolish it, etc.? This is called "goal," and it can change over the course of rehearsals as you discover new nuances of the piece you are playing.
Step 5. Always make a strong choice towards your character
In other words, if I "love enough" the other person, it is a weak choice. "I'm crazy" about the other person is a strong choice. On stage, ambiguity doesn't work.
Step 6. Then comes the planning of the stage action
This means learn where you are and where you need to go during a scene. In any play, you need to know what's going on around you in order to catch a cue and act out your line, or move around the stage.
Step 7. Drink lots of fluids and (most importantly) have fun
Acting is work, but you can let yourself go and have fun.
Step 8. On the night of the show everyone is always nervous:
it's a sign of sanity! On the other hand, being too relaxed can hurt your performance.
Step 9. It's best to get into character at least 10 minutes before the first scene starts, even if you show up later
Advice
- "There are no small parts, only small actors". So don't be discouraged if you get a "small part".
- If your heart isn't there, you shouldn't be there either.
- If you miss a movement or a joke, move on. When you stop or get stuck, the audience realizes that something is wrong.
- Speak loud and clear so that even the people in the back row can hear you.
- Listen to the song you played, so you know how the passages combine with the verses or beats of the music.
- Maintain a positive attitude
- If you get it wrong, go ahead or say something that looks like the joke you should have said. After all, the audience doesn't know what your lines should be, and if you make a mistake and the audience hears it clearly, have a laugh and say the correct line! Gets better.
- Master your character.
- You must have a lot of energy: you certainly don't want to lose your audience.
- Get hold of your jokes
- Turn a little joke that might be boring into your own creation, and make it yours.
- The only way to look foolish is to worry about it.
- "Love art in yourself, not yourself in art".
- As for the choreography, it is useful to know the meaning of the song (especially if it is in a foreign language) in order to express the emotions of the music.
- If the partner is wrong, do not react. This would cause both of us to panic; it just keeps the show going.
Warnings
- Don't let the other actors lead you. That's the director's job.
- Never underestimate others and don't be too sure of yourself.
- Don't think negatively.
- If you drink a lot of fluids, make sure you can go to the toilet before taking the stage (this is especially important if you are very nervous). Nobody wants "accidents" on the stage …
