Slime is a great fun toy to entertain children, but it can also stain rugs, carpets, walls, clothing and furniture. If you find yourself treating a slime stain, the usual cleaning methods may not work. You will need to use special techniques to eliminate it, but don't worry - these are easy to use methods!

Steps

Part 1 of 4: Remove Slime Stains from Rugs and Carpets

Clean Slime Step 1

Step 1. Remove as much slime as possible from carpet or carpet fibers

Grab and pick up the slime bits from the surface with the help of your fingers. Wiping off as much slime as possible before cleaning the carpet or carpet will make it easier to remove the stain.

Keep in mind that the slime may have stuck to the fibers of the fabric, so you may not be able to remove it completely with your fingers

Step 2. Mix 180ml of white vinegar with 90ml of warm water

Vinegar is more effective at removing slime stains than water alone or even other carpet and carpet cleaning products. Pour the vinegar and water into a bowl, then mix them.

Alternatively, you can pour the solution into a clean spray bottle and spray it on the stained area

Step 3. Apply the vinegar and warm water solution to the stain

Pour the solution onto the slime stain to soak it. The amount needed may vary based on the size of the patch.

For example, if the stain affects a large area of a carpet or carpet, you may need the entire solution you have prepared. If, on the other hand, the dirty surface is only 3 cm wide, then you may only need 60 ml

Step 4. Use a soft bristle brush to remove the slime from the surface

Scrub the surface with the brush to get the vinegar and water solution into the fibers. If you pick up extra bits of slime with the brush, peel them off or rinse the bristles before proceeding. Then, continue scrubbing the affected area with the brush.

You can use a clean carpet or dish brush for this procedure

Step 5. Blot the area with a clean, dry cloth

Once you have removed all the slime from the surface and the stain is partially gone, start blotting the area with a clean, dry cloth. Press it with your hand or foot to dab the surface.

Continue blotting the area until it is almost entirely dry to the touch

Step 6. Repeat the process until the stain is completely gone

Repeat the cleaning as many times as necessary to remove the stain from the surface. After removing it, let it dry for a few hours, then vacuum the area to freshen it up.

The stain may become visible again when the surface has dried, so be sure to check it

Part 2 of 4: Remove Slime Stains from Clothes

Step 1. Scrape off any slime that may have caked on your clothing

You can remove bits of encrusted slime with your fingers or carefully scrape them off using the back of a butter knife. Just make sure you get as much slime off your clothes as possible before you start washing them.

If the encrustation is particularly stubborn, place an ice cube on it for a few minutes and then try to remove the slime. Cooling it should make it easier to remove

Step 2. Spray or pour a pre-treatment stain remover on the affected area

Spray a stain remover or pour a few drops of detergent directly on the stain. Both products will help you melt it.

Make sure the stain remover or detergent completely covers the stain

Step 3. Place the clothing in a large bucket and fill it with hot water

Place the pre-treated clothing in an empty, clean bucket with a capacity of approximately 8-10 liters. Then, place the bucket under a bathtub or sink faucet. Run the water through it by filling it to the edge or almost.

If you don't have a bucket, then you can put the items in a clean tub or sink closed with the stopper

Step 4. Soak the clothing for 30 minutes

Leave them to soak in the bucket for half an hour. There is no need to shake them or do anything else during this time.

Be sure to put the bucket in a place out of the reach of children and pets

Step 5. Put the clothes in the washing machine

After 30 minutes, remove the items from the bucket and squeeze them directly on the container to remove excess water. Then place them in the washing machine drum and wash them as usual.

If a garment has special instructions, be sure to follow them. For example, if you have to use a gentle cycle, then program your washing machine accordingly

Step 6. Let your clothing air dry

After washing them, take them out of the washing machine and hang them up to dry. In the event that they need to be washed again, do not put them in the dryer, which could fix the stains.

Hang your clothing in a well-ventilated place. You could also turn on a fan and direct the jet of air towards them to speed up the drying process

Step 7. Repeat the process as needed

If the spots are still visible, repeat the process. Do this until they are completely eliminated.

It may be necessary to repeat the operation several times. It all depends on the severity of the stain

Part 3 of 4: Remove Slime Stains from Furniture

Step 1. Remove excess slime from furniture

Use your fingers or the back of a butter knife to remove the slime from a piece of furniture. Press the back of the knife on the cabinet and move it in one direction to remove the slime by scratching it away. Throw away any slime residue after removing it.

  • If the slime has become deeply encrusted, then you can cool it with an ice cube or bag and then try to peel off the bits of mixture.
  • On furniture, avoid using the jagged part of a knife or a sharp flat-bladed knife, otherwise you risk damaging them.

Step 2. Pour distilled water onto a clean cloth

With distilled water there is less risk of altering the color of the furniture, as it does not contain the same minerals as tap water. Take a sponge and pour in enough distilled water to moisten it, then squeeze it to get rid of the excess.

If water alone isn't effective enough to remove the stain, you can try tapping it with a solution of equal parts water and vinegar. However, be sure to try it on a hidden area of the furniture before continuing, as vinegar can stain some fabrics

Step 3. Blot any visible stains with the damp cloth

Place it on the affected area and press it with your hand. After pressing it once, lift it up, then turn it over or locate a clean section on the same side of the fabric and blot the stain again.

Continue doing this until the stain is completely removed

Part 4 of 4: Remove Slime Stains from Walls

Step 1. Remove any slime residue with your fingers or a credit card

If there is a piece of slime stuck to the wall, be sure to remove it before trying to get rid of the stain. Otherwise, you risk spreading it on other parts of the wall in an attempt to eliminate it.

If you can't peel the slime off with your fingers, use an old credit card to scrape it off the wall. Push the tile against the wall exactly above the slime and move it down while continuing to press it against the wall

Step 2. Make a paste with baking soda, water, and vinegar

Since slime stains on the walls can be particularly stubborn, it's best to make a paste of baking soda, water, and vinegar to remove them. Mix 4 tablespoons of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of water and 1 tablespoon of vinegar. This should give you a thick paste that you can apply to the stain.

If the paste is too thick to apply, add 1-2 teaspoons of water to dilute it. If it's too liquid, add 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda to thicken it

Step 3. Place a paper towel on the floor area under the stain

Place a paper towel under the area of the wall where you will apply the paste. This will help protect the floor under the patch in case the paste drips.

You can also use old newspaper sheets to protect the floor

Step 4. Put on a pair of rubber gloves and use your fingers to apply the paste

Do not handle it with bare hands, as it can irritate the skin. Put on a pair of rubber gloves and then start spreading it over the stain with your fingers.

Try to evenly coat the stain to make sure the paste's action is as effective as possible

Step 5. Let the paste dry for 2 hours and remove it with a paper towel

The mixture should dry after about 2 hours, but it may take more or less time depending on the amount of paste applied. Once it dries, you can gently rub it off with a dry paper towel to drop it on the towel you have placed on the ground.

  • Throw away the napkin with the baking soda paste when you're done.
  • Repeat this process as many times as necessary to remove the stain from the wall.
