A portable charger, or power bank, is very convenient especially when you are away from home and do not have a power outlet available. It ensures that the various devices do not run out of electricity; however, in order to charge the mobile phone, tablet and other electronic items, it must also be charged. You can easily do this by plugging it into a wall outlet or a laptop. Once fully charged, you can use your power bank again.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Connect the Power Bank
Step 1. Check the LED lights to see if you need to charge the power bank
Although you can do this at any time, if you needlessly connect it to an energy source, you can reduce its life in the long run. Most models have four LED lights arranged on one side; these gradually go out as the charge decreases. Wait until only one or two are left on before charging the power bank.
Step 2. Plug it into the power outlet
It should be equipped with a USB cable and an adapter; plug the larger end into the adapter and plug the adapter into the wall socket. Wait for the charger to build up electricity.
Step 3. Connect it to your computer or laptop
Both devices can be used as an energy source to power the power bank. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the device and the larger end to the USB socket on your computer.
Part 2 of 3: Wait for the Power Bank to Charge
Step 1. Check the manufacturer's instructions for the estimated charging time
You shouldn't leave it plugged into the power source any longer than necessary. The user manual should list the approximate charging times; most models take one to two hours.
Step 2. Unplug it from the power outlet as soon as it is fully charged
Check it frequently while connected to the power source, and as soon as all the LEDs are on, unplug it.
If the lights don't work, remove it from the power source when the estimated charging time has passed
Step 3. Check the device to make sure it is properly charged
Once you have "filled up" with electricity, connect an electronic device to the power bank through the USB cable; if it has been charged in the right way, it should start transferring energy to the mobile or tablet.
If it hasn't charged, try plugging it into another power outlet. If the problem persists, the charger may be broken; contact the manufacturer to find out if it can be repaired
Part 3 of 3: Ensuring Efficiency
Step 1. Rely on the wall socket in most cases
This way you can charge the power bank faster than using a laptop or desktop; then choose this first solution, unless you have only the computer available.
Step 2. Use only the supplied cable to charge the power bank
The device should be supplied with the appropriate cable with a USB socket on one end and the plug on the other. Avoid using different cables that are not specifically designed for the specific power bank.
Step 3. Avoid overcharging it
You must not leave it plugged in for too long, otherwise it will reduce the life of its own battery; Charge it only long enough for all LED lights to come on.
Step 4. Charge the electronic device and power bank at the same time
While the latter is plugged into the power outlet, plug any device you typically charge through the power bank into another outlet. The recharge function drains the power bank reserve; if you recharge your mobile phone / tablet before going out, you are not forced to use the charger immediately after disconnecting it from the power source, thus extending its life in the long term.
