If you're in the habit of wearing makeup, foundation and concealers probably have no secrets for you. If, on the other hand, the world of make-up is completely new to you and you have never set foot in perfumery, consider the needs of your skin. Is it dry and doesn't need high coverage? A tinted moisturizer may be for you. It is moisturizing enough to be used on its own or to do simple, natural makeup. Its degree of pigmentation is sufficient to even out the complexion and correct small imperfections.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Choosing the Right Product
Step 1. Find out the difference between tinted moisturizer and foundation
Both products have an aqueous base containing moisturizing ingredients, oils and pigments (which help cover imperfections and even out the complexion). However, a tinted moisturizer is richer in emollient active ingredients than a foundation.
Depending on the cosmetic line, tinted moisturizers and foundations can be virtually indistinguishable, so you have to experiment
Step 2. Find out if you should use a tinted moisturizer
If you have dry skin and don't need high coverage, this product is for you. The humectants and emollients it contains will deeply hydrate the skin.
The foundation is preferable for those with oily skin and prefer greater coverage
Step 3. Choose a tinted moisturizer that suits your complexion
If you plan to buy it in perfumery, try the product on one side of the face or the back of the hand. If it fits perfectly to the skin, the result will be natural and the product will not leave marks. You should also examine the extent of skin absorption.
In winter, you may want to use a slightly darker cream than your complexion. It will help you warm your skin and have a healthy glow
Step 4. Evaluate if it contains sun protection factor
Many tinted moisturizers come with this. If you don't use any sunscreen, you may want to look for a product with an SPF of at least 30, with UVA and UVB protection.
Remember that the protection will wear off within a few hours, unless you repeat the application or use another sunscreen later in the day
Step 5. Choose the brushes
You can apply it simply with your fingers, but a brush will allow you to exert more control. You could use a duo fiber, which is a flat brush that will help you tap and blend the product.
A brush can help you achieve precise and flawless makeup
Part 2 of 2: Application
Step 1. Mix a moisturizer and a foundation primer
Squeeze a small amount of cream onto one finger and a small amount of primer onto another. Rub your fingers to mix the two products well. Dab the cream on your cheeks and forehead so you can apply it more easily. Then pat it on the chin, temples and under the eyes.
Let it dry for a minute before applying the tinted moisturizer
Step 2. Dab the tinted moisturizer onto the skin creating dots
Squeeze a small amount onto your finger, then create dots on the cheeks, forehead, under the eyes, and along the nose.
You can also apply it on all areas of the skin that have undergone pigmentation changes
Step 3. Massage the tinted moisturizer with a brush by repeatedly making large, circular motions all over your face
It may help to grab the brush by the tip so you don't exert too much pressure
Step 4. Blend the product with a brush under the eyes, under the nose and along the jaw
Make sure you blend the cream from the jaw to the underside of the chin, this way you won't create a break with the neck.
If the brush is too large and prevents you from reaching certain areas, try alternating it with a smaller or thinner one
Step 5. Apply the concealer under the eyes
Pick up a creamy concealer with a rounded tip brush. Apply it as close to the lashline as possible. Blend it at the corners of the eyes and slightly past the lashline.
The concealer will help you even out your complexion and perfect the result obtained with the tinted moisturizer
Step 6. Fix the cream with a thin layer of powder to make it last longer
Pick up the powder with a special brush and brush it gently on your face. Don't neglect dark circles, where you applied the concealer.
