Cleaning your back regularly helps keep the skin healthy. Try to get used to washing it every day in the shower so that it is always smooth, hydrated and free of impurities.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Wash your back in the shower
Step 1. Prefer warm showers to hot ones
Hot water can dry out the skin and excessively dry out the sebum. A lukewarm shower, on the other hand, helps keep your back hydrated.
Step 2. Pour a shower gel over a loofah sponge and massage it into your upper back
Grab the loofah with your left hand to reach the right shoulder and massage the upper back section. Then, grab it with your right hand to reach the left shoulder and take care of the other upper section.
If you have trouble reaching your upper back, get a loofah with a handle to make the procedure easier
Step 3. Use the loofah to massage the lower back
Grab it with your right hand and use it to massage your right lower back. Switch it to your left hand and massage the corresponding lower back.
If you can't reach your lower back, try using a loofah sponge with a handle
Step 4. Rinse your back
Make sure you get rid of any remaining shower gel to prevent it from drying out the skin.
Step 5. Hydrate your back as you exit the shower
First, pat it dry with a towel, then massage body lotion on top and bottom. Moisturizing your back after getting out of the shower prevents dryness and cracking problems.
Method 2 of 3: Exfoliate the Back
Step 1. Before showering, massage your back with a natural bristle body brush
The brush exfoliates and removes dead cells. Massage it in a gentle circular motion on the skin. Try to run it over the entire surface of your back.
Step 2. Exfoliate your back in the shower using a body scrub
Body scrubs contain particles such as salt and sugar that allow you to exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells. Keeping your back well exfoliated helps prevent pores from becoming clogged. Gently massage the scrub onto your back while in the shower using a loofah sponge.
Step 3. If you can't reach your back, use an exfoliating band
It is a slightly abrasive band whose function is to facilitate exfoliation. Grab the ends of the band with your hands and rest it on the nape of your neck. Then, move your hands down at the same time to pass the band across your entire back and exfoliate it.
Step 4. Exfoliate your back every day in the shower
A daily exfoliation helps keep skin soft and prevent pores from becoming clogged. Gently exfoliate to prevent irritation.
Method 3 of 3: Fighting Back Acne
Step 1. Use a salicylic acid-based shower gel to help exfoliate your back
Salicylic acid helps treat acne by exfoliating the skin and clearing pores. Look for a shower gel that contains this active ingredient. Use it to wash your back in the shower.
Step 2. Use a benzoyl peroxide product before bedtime
Benzoyl peroxide is an effective active ingredient for removing impurities. You can find it in several over-the-counter creams and lotions. It helps fight acne as it eliminates the bacteria responsible for this ailment. Massage a benzoyl peroxide lotion or cream on your back every night before bed.
- Benzoyl peroxide can discolour tissues. When you apply it before going to sleep, wear an old t-shirt.
- It can take up to four weeks of treatment before you start seeing any improvement.
Step 3. Shower at the end of a workout
Exercising makes your back sweat, with the risk of pimples and other impurities forming. The shower should be taken immediately after an intense training session. Wash your back with a shower gel to remove sweat residue and prevent impurities from forming.
