You can purify the skin with a wide range of localized treatments. Purifying the skin means freeing it from toxins and bacteria that accumulate daily on its surface. The best thing to do is to cleanse it thoroughly every day, incorporating a purifying treatment into your daily beauty routine. Clean skin allows you to look more beautiful and healthier, resulting in you feeling happier. There are numerous ready-made cosmetic products that you can easily buy in perfumery; in parallel, there are numerous home remedies and recipes that you can prepare at home using natural ingredients. Experiment with both resources to find out which one is best for your skin's needs.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Purify the Skin with Cosmetic Products
Step 1. Make a clay mask
In perfumery and at the supermarket, dozens and dozens of excellent cosmetics are available that can help you effectively purify your skin. Each person's skin has slightly different needs, so the product that works for someone may not necessarily be right for you. The best thing to do is experiment to find out which category of cosmetics is best for you. In any case, among the most effective purifying treatments we can certainly include clay masks.
- The options available to you are many; commonly the two main ingredients of clay masks are bentonite or kaolin, two varieties of natural clay.
- You may need to try more than one product before identifying the ideal one for you. The best thing to do is trial and error until you hit the target.
- Apply the mask to clean skin, then let it dry completely on your face before rinsing.
Step 2. Try a mud mask
Thermal muds are a valid alternative to clay. Just like with clay masks, here too the options available to you are really numerous. The advice is to choose a product rich in minerals, specifically formulated for your skin type: dry, oily or combination. Read the directions on the cosmetic packaging to find the one that best suits the characteristics of your skin.
- The instructions on the product will tell you how to apply it properly.
- Generally, mud masks should be left on for 10 to 30 minutes.
Step 3. Use the cleansing wipes
Undoubtedly, the quickest way to cleanse the skin is to use a wipe specially formulated to cleanse impure skin; at the supermarket and perfumery you will find many different options available. Often these wipes also allow you to effectively remove the last residues of make-up.
- Thanks to the addition of natural ingredients, such as coconut or honey, many purifying wipes also have a moisturizing and toning action.
- Avoid scented wipes as they can irritate your skin.
- If you have sensitive facial skin, choose a product specific to your needs.
Step 4. Use a cleansing cream
In addition to removing the normal impurities that accumulate on the skin, this product is also able to eliminate any bacteria. As in the case of other face cosmetics, there are many purifying creams characterized by different formulations and brands. Read the directions carefully to find the one that best suits your skin type: dry, oily, combination or sensitive.
- If you have sensitive facial skin, avoid alcohol-based cosmetics or petrolatum.
- As previously suggested, the best thing to do is to proceed by trial and error until you find the most suitable cosmetic for your skin's needs.
Step 5. Try using an astringent toner
It is another valid alternative to cleanse the skin in depth. Again, the options and brands available to you are truly plentiful. The function of the astringent tonic is to narrow the pores, which is why it is particularly suitable for those with oily skin. If you have dry skin, using an astringent product may further dehydrate it, sometimes causing irritation.
After using an astringent toner, it is advisable to apply a moisturizer
Step 6. Purify the skin by exfoliating it
Using a scrub allows you to eliminate toxins, bacteria and dead cells that have accumulated on the surface of the face. In addition to the common exfoliating products there are also special brushes to be used gently dry. Exfoliating your skin improves circulation, and also helps rid it of toxins and dead skin cells. The result will be more beautiful, healthier and purified skin.
Method 2 of 4: Using Honey
Step 1. Try a honey beauty treatment
It is an ingredient with excellent antibacterial properties, used since ancient times to treat pathologies and wounds of the skin. As with most natural remedies, its effectiveness is not guaranteed for everyone, but its antibacterial qualities, which help to purify the skin, are unquestionable. Thanks to its thick and sticky consistency, honey lends itself perfectly to being applied to the face.
Step 2. Prefer organic honey
If you have decided to take advantage of the purifying powers of honey, choose a 100% natural and organic product, avoiding those treated industrially. The enzymes contained in it, which must be absorbed directly by the skin, tend to be completely destroyed during industrial processing. Manuka honey from Australia and New Zealand is particularly effective, given its high antibacterial properties.
- To make sure it is of the purest quality, look for manuka honey with official UMF certification equal to or greater than 10 (+10, +15 etc.).
- Honey that contains the greatest amount of methylglyoxal, the active ingredient with the highest antibacterial properties, is often referred to as "active manuka honey" or "UMF manuka honey".
Step 3. Prepare the treatment
The easiest way to cleanse your skin with honey is to simply massage it into your face. Pour a few tablespoons into a cup, then, with clean hands, apply it evenly to your face. Leave the purifying treatment on for about 30 minutes before rinsing off.
- If you notice that your skin appears red or irritated, immediately rinse it off with plenty of water.
- Monitor the condition of the skin constantly, especially during the first application.
Step 4. You can also use gauze
Alternatively, instead of applying honey directly to the skin, you can soak clean gauze in it. This method is sometimes used as a bandage to aid in wound healing, but it can also be used to cleanse the skin. Once the gauze is fully saturated, you can apply it to your face.
- The stickiness of the honey should allow it to stick to your face smoothly.
- After about thirty minutes, rinse your face, then gently remove the gauze from the skin.
- This treatment can be done a maximum of once or twice a week.
Step 5. Blend honey with lemon juice
Honey will remain the key ingredient of your purifying treatment, but it will be mixed with a second element capable of further enhancing its effects. Make your beauty mask by squeezing half a lemon, then transfer the juice to a small cup. Add a small amount of honey (about two teaspoons), then mix the two ingredients evenly by mixing. Wash your face and then distribute the mask evenly. Let the cleansing treatment work for about five minutes.
- Rinse your face with cold water.
- Lemon juice may irritate the skin; if itching or redness occurs, wash your face immediately.
Step 6. Blend the honey with the yogurt
You can create a purifying skin treatment based on these two excellent natural ingredients. Pour a tablespoon of honey into a small bowl, then add a teaspoon of plain yogurt and mix thoroughly. Wash your face and hands and then massage the mixture into your skin.
- Leave the purifying mask on for about 10-15 minutes before rinsing your face with lukewarm water.
- At this point you can apply a moisturizer.
- Alternatively, you can use the following proportions: four tablespoons of yogurt and two teaspoons of honey.
Step 7. Blend the cinnamon honey
You can apply this mask before going to sleep and leave it on the skin overnight. Pour two teaspoons of honey into a small bowl, then add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix the two ingredients until they form a uniform mixture. Once it has a good consistency, you can apply it to your face carefully.
- Wait for the mixture to dry on your skin before going to sleep.
- The next morning, rinse your face with plenty of warm water.
- If you wish, you can keep the treatment on for as little as 30 minutes.
Method 3 of 4: Using Avocado
Step 1. Purchase an organically grown avocado
The idea of smearing avocado pulp on your face might seem bizarre to you. As with all other home remedies, also in this case the effectiveness is not completely guaranteed; nevertheless, this fruit is undoubtedly rich in antioxidants and has excellent moisturizing properties. If you decide to experiment with this method, choose an organically grown avocado to make sure it hasn't been treated with pesticides or other harmful chemicals.
Step 2. Obtain the pulp from the fruit
Cut it in half, remove the stone with the help of a knife, then use a spoon to extract the pulp from the peel. Once transferred to a deep plate, mash it with a fork to transform it into a smooth and uniform cream. If necessary, you can add a few drops of water to achieve the desired fluidity.
- As an alternative to water, you can add a few drops of lemon juice: the purifying effect of the mask will be even more effective.
- Remember that lemon juice may aggravate the symptoms of dry or sensitive skin.
Step 3. Apply the mask to your face
Once ready, the avocado cream can be applied directly to the skin. Before starting, remember to wash your hands and face carefully. Let the avocado sit for about 20-30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. As a last step, pat your face dry by gently dabbing it with a clean towel.
Method 4 of 4: Using Egg White
Step 1. Make an egg white purifying mask
Being rich in collagen and protein, egg white can help shrink pores, resulting in a purifying effect on the skin. This method is particularly suitable for oily skin, and is less suitable for dry skin. In the case of dehydrated skin, in fact, it could cause irritation, also aggravating the dryness of the skin. Similarly, if you have sensitive skin, vitamin A can induce breakouts. The best thing to do is to ask a dermatologist for advice in advance.
- Preparing this mask is really simple; all you have to do is whip some egg whites in a bowl.
- Use the electric whisk to whisk them.
Step 2. Apply the mask to your face
Once whipped, after having thoroughly washed your hands and face, you can apply the egg whites on the skin with the help of your fingertips. Gently massage the mixture on the skin, taking care to avoid particularly sensitive areas, such as around the eyes.
Step 3. Let the mask act before rinsing
Wait for the egg whites to dry completely on the skin. When they have dried, you will feel the skin pulling slightly. At that point, remove the mask with plenty of warm water, making sure to get rid of any egg residue. Since egg white tends to dry out the skin, it is important to complete the treatment by applying a good moisturizer.
Advice
- Choose raw honey to make sure it hasn't been heated, pasteurized, or treated in any way.
- Adding a few drops of lemon to the cleansing treatment helps dry pimples faster.
- A pinch of nutmeg can relieve inflammatory acne.

- In the preparation based on honey and cinnamon, you can reduce the doses as follows: a tablespoon of honey and 1/3 of a teaspoon of cinnamon.
- If you intend to leave the mask on overnight, use an old pillowcase or cover the pillow with a towel to avoid getting it dirty.
Warnings
- Make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients used.
- Before applying any product or mask directly to the face, test it on a small area of skin, for example on the inside of the wrist.
