If you're looking for an inexpensive, easy-to-make, all-natural self-tanning solution, coffee might be for you. It is in fact an excellent option that allows you to give a beautiful complexion to the skin at a low cost, without the application of harsh chemicals. You can use it in a variety of ways by making coffee self-tanning lotion, mixing coffee grounds and olive oil, or boiling coffee grounds.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Make Coffee Self Tanning Lotion
Step 1. Pour 250ml of water into an American coffee maker
To make the self-tanning lotion, you'll need about a cup of strong coffee; then, measure a quantity of water that allows you to obtain 250 ml of coffee. If you fill the entire jug, the coffee will not be strong enough. In fact, not enough grains enter the coffee compartment of a standard American coffee maker to obtain a sufficiently strong coffee.
You can also use another type of coffee maker, such as a plunger or a mocha, the important thing is that it allows you to prepare 250 ml of strong coffee
Step 2. Pour 6 tablespoons of coffee into a filter
To make even stronger coffee, you can use larger quantities. The stronger the coffee, the more intense the color will be.
- Prefer classic coffee to decaffeinated, in this way the lotion will also have anti-cellulite properties.
- You can use medium or dark roasted coffee, although the latter allows for a more intense color.
- If you don't feel like measuring it, you can fill the filter with enough coffee to make a full carafe, but add only 250ml of water.
Step 3. Prepare the coffee
Turn on the coffee maker and wait. Turn it off after the brewing is complete, so that the heating plate located under the jug does not keep the coffee hot. Let it cool before making the lotion.
Step 4. Let the coffee cool
Once it reaches room temperature, you can prepare the lotion. Leave it in the jug until it is time to proceed.
Step 5. Pour 250ml of white lotion into a large bowl
You can use any type of lotion you want, as long as it's white. To get a better result, choose a full-bodied one, as it will be diluted by the coffee.
If you choose an all-natural lotion, the coffee self-tanning solution will be chemical-free and can even better replace the creams on the market
Step 6. Mix the coffee and lotion
Pour the coffee into the bowl, then stir until you get a cream with an even consistency and color. It should turn a dark beige or light brown, depending on how strong the coffee is.
Step 7. Pour the self-tanner solution into a container
The lotion bottle itself, an empty bottle, jar or food container is recommended. For ease of use, choose a container that allows you to easily dispense the lotion.
- Make sure the container is clean;
- If you don't have a large enough container, you can distribute the lotion in several containers.
Step 8. Massage the lotion into your skin just like a normal self-tanner or body lotion
Let it dry completely before getting dressed. The skin should immediately take on a golden hue.
- After applying the lotion, wash your hands immediately to prevent them from being darker than the rest of your body. Since they have more contact with the lotion, they tend to absorb more pigments.
- Your tan will likely go away when you shower or swim.
Step 9. Apply coffee self-tanning lotion every day after you get out of the shower to maintain your tan
- If you plan on finishing it right away, you can keep it in the bathroom. If, on the other hand, you fear it will go bad, keep it in the fridge.
- If the color does not satisfy you, you can change the doses of coffee during the next preparation.
Method 2 of 3: Mix Coffee Grounds and Olive Oil
Step 1. Measure out 1 cup of coffee grounds
For best results, use lukewarm funds.
Step 2. Mix the coffee grounds with 1 cup (250ml) of olive oil in a bowl
You can modify the recipe to prepare more or less self-tanning oil, the important thing is to use equal parts of coffee grounds and olive oil
Step 3. Let the solution sit for 5 minutes so that the oil can absorb the coffee pigments
While you wait, prepare your bath so that you can shower immediately after applying the oil.
Step 4. Get into the shower or tub, but don't turn on the tap
Start applying the solution. The coffee grounds and oil will flow onto the surface of the shower stall or tub.
- You can also line the floor with paper or garbage bags;
- Wash the shower cubicle or bathtub after the treatment is complete.
Step 5. Set a timer for 5 minutes and massage the mixture into your skin
If you have cellulite, focus on the areas affected by this blemish, as caffeine helps fight it.
Better to wear a pair of gloves when applying to avoid staining your hands
Step 6. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes
Avoid going out of the shower stall or tub, or you will stain your bathroom mat, floor, or towels.
Step 7. Rinse off the mixture by taking a lukewarm shower
Make sure you remove any coffee grounds that have collected in skin folds, such as in the armpits and groin.
After applying the self-tanner oil, avoid shaving your legs or rubbing your skin, otherwise you risk removing it
Step 8. Repeat the application twice a week to keep the tan intact
Prepare the self-tanning oil before each application
Method 3 of 3: Boil the Coffee Grounds
Step 1. Measure 1 cup of coffee grounds and place them in a medium-sized pot
Use fresh funds for best results. The pot should have a capacity of about 500ml, but it doesn't have to be big enough to evaporate the water.
Step 2. Add 1 cup (250ml) of water and mix it with the coffee grounds
This will result in a concentrated solution and prevent coffee lumps from settling at the bottom of the pot.
To prepare larger quantities of self-tanner, increase the doses of coffee grounds and water, the important thing is to always measure them in equal parts
Step 3. Bring the water to a boil
Boil the coffee grounds for about 2 minutes, no more, otherwise the water will evaporate.
Step 4. Set the mixture aside and let it cool down to room temperature
Do not apply the mixture immediately. If it's hot, you risk getting burned
Step 5. Massage the mixture into the skin, distributing the coffee grounds well
It is recommended that you wear a pair of gloves to apply the product to avoid staining your hands
Step 6. Let the tan set for 15 minutes
Coffee grounds need time for them to penetrate the skin. Set a timer and try not to move, this way you will avoid littering the coffee grounds.
Step 7. Rinse the coffee grounds
Avoid washing or shaving your skin, as otherwise you risk removing the mixture. After rinsing, pat it dry with a clean towel.
