If you too, like everyone else, want to have beautiful curls, know that you can get them in different ways. You will need a few tools that you probably already have at home. The curling iron is the most used and known, but did you know that you can also do wavy hair with a straightener? If you don't like the effect of heat on your hair, you'll have gorgeous curls even using the wrist twist.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Use the curling iron
Step 1. Wash your hair
If you've naturally moved them, use a disciplining balm. If you have them straight, skip the conditioner and apply a detangling spray.
Step 2. Comb your hair and apply a specific product
For curly hair, use a fixing gel; for wavy ones, try a mousse. For straight ones, apply a gel to curl them.
Step 3. Divide the hair into two sections
You can do the parting in the middle or to the side, as you like.
Tie the section you won't be working on right away into a ponytail
Step 4. Dry your hair
You can use the hair dryer or let them dry on their own; raises the roots to give volume.
Step 5. Take a 5cm section from the back of the still loose section
Step 6. Wrap your hair around a heated curling iron
Start from the roots and tip of the tool; roll your hair around it, moving towards the base (where the handle is).
Remember that the hair should not be fixed to the iron, but only supported
Step 7. Stay with the twisted strand for at least ten seconds
Avoid keeping it too long: you certainly don't want to cook your hair!
You may need to try several times to figure out how long to leave the hair around the tool - it depends on how long and thick it is
Step 8. Repeat the process for the rest of the strands
Start at the back and work your way up to the front, working the bottom first.
Step 9. Untie the other strand and repeat the whole process
Move the one you just curled over to your shoulder, so as not to get in the way.
Step 10. Gently run your fingers between the curls, separating them as you like
If they are tighter than you would like, keep in mind that within a few hours they will relax.
Step 11. Apply some gel or wax
Take a knob of product, rub it on the palms of your hands and pass them between the strands. This will define the curls and make them fluffy.
Using wax instead of hairspray will prevent frizzy hair. If you still prefer to use hairspray, spray a light one
Method 2 of 3: Using the Plate
Step 1. Wash and dry your hair
You can let them do it themselves or use the hair dryer; just make sure they are completely dry before you pass the straightener.
Avoid applying products: iron has more effect on natural hair
Step 2. Divide your hair into sections and brush them to remove knots
Part the side you prefer.
Step 3. Grab a small section of hair
It can be about 5cm wide. Start from the front or the nape of the neck; as it gets easier for you.
Step 4. Open the straightener and place it approximately ¾ of the length of the strand
If you want the curls to start earlier, put it closer to the roots.
- Hold the plate vertically, with the tip pointing up.
- The plate must be narrow (about 5 cm) and slightly rounded. The heat will warm the rounded edges a little, allowing you to create the ring.
Step 5. Close the straightener and curl your hair away from your face
Just take a ride.
Step 6. Slowly lower the plate
Keep the twist done earlier and run it through your hair.
- Do several tests to figure out at what speed to slide the plate. Holding it longer at the top, rather than just at the ends, will give you full curls. The longer you keep it, the tighter and more defined they will be.
- Do not open the plate, but always leave it closed.
Step 7. Repeat steps 3 and 6 on the rest of the hair, always working on small strands
Step 8. Run your fingers through your hair
Make the curls softer or leave them well defined.
Step 9. Apply some wax or gel to set the look
Give volume and definition by putting a small amount of product on your fingers, which you will pass between the curls.
Method 3 of 3: Using Your Fingers
Step 1. Start with damp or dry hair
If you have just washed them, you can pat them dry with a towel and leave them slightly damp. Be aware, however, that the curls will need to be completely dry before removing the bobby pins.
Step 2. Comb your hair and divide it into four equal sections
They will have to be divided on two axes: a central line and one that goes from ear to ear, at the top of the head. In other words, you will have two front sections that start from the roots and go along the side of the head; the other two behind, one on the left and one on the right.
- If you find it easier, stop each section in a queue, leaving the one you need to work on loose.
- If you have bangs, which you don't want to curl, don't include it in the section.
Step 3. Apply a curl gel on the first section
Start with one of those in front, applying a little product from roots to ends; it will help to fix the curl longer.
Step 4. Lift the lock and start curling it, starting from the roots; in this way you will give volume and texture to the curls
Work away from your face. For right-hand sections, roll clockwise; for those on the left, counterclockwise
Step 5. Continue to curl the locks on themselves, and roll them into a spiral, at the roots
Do it along all the strands, up to the ends, which you will then tuck into the curl.
Step 6. Secure everything with bobby pins
Use as many as you need. Once finished, you will have four spirals on your head.
Step 7. Leave everything on for at least an hour; you can even sleep in it if you want
Make sure your hair is dry before you undo the spirals.
If you want, you can speed up the process by attaching a diffuser to the hair dryer to dry the curls
Step 8. Loosen the hair and use your fingers to separate and define the curls well
Step 9. Finish by applying some more gel
Put a small amount on the tips to set the look for a long time.
Advice
- Using too much hair spray or gel could damage your hair; go easy.
- Heat damages the hair a lot; reserve the use of these tools only for special occasions or, alternate these methods with the one with the fingers (Method 3).
Warnings
- If the curls don't come out as you would like, wet them, dry them and repeat each step carefully.
- Never leave curling irons or straighteners unattended on the sink! Do not allow them to come into contact with water and always unplug them once you have finished using them.
- If you're not happy with how your curls turned out, don't comb them - you'll only make things worse. Leave them there for a while and they will unravel on their own.
