Do you have curly hair and think you can't do bangs? Don't worry, this article will teach you how to style your curls in different ways to be able to show off an envious fringe.
Steps
Step 1. Have your bangs cut by your hairdresser
Decide if you prefer straight bangs or a tuft. If you intend to wear the curly fringe naturally, it is advisable to cut it with dry and not wet hair to get a realistic idea of the final result and to decide exactly the length you want. If, on the other hand, you will straighten it, you can also have it cut with wet hair, but it is better to have both options.
Step 2. Style your bangs
If you have wavy or curly hair, you can wear both straight and curly bangs; however, if you have very curly hair, it is advisable not to straighten the fringe unless it straightens the entire hair. A smooth fringe doesn't look very good if the rest of the hair is very curly.
Method 1 of 2: Curly Bangs
Step 1. Wash your hair
Use warm water to open the hair and to cleanse. Also apply a moisturizing conditioner and leave it on for about five minutes. Rinse with fresh or cold water to seal in hydration and to make the hair more shiny.
Step 2. Apply styling products such as gel or mousse
Apply a leave-in conditioner first to eliminate frizz; then, apply the products with your fingers to create the desired curls.
Step 3. Dab your hair with a cotton towel to remove excess moisture
Step 4. Separate the bangs from the rest of the hair and curl it with your fingers using a small extra amount of gel
Divide the bangs into small sections to create individual curls. Starting from the base (from the scalp), twist the sections of hair downwards and then back upwards, maintaining the position for a few seconds. Do the same thing with all sections to keep the crease all day.
Step 5. Dry the bangs with a diffuser attached to the hair dryer
The heat will keep the crease of the bangs preventing it from sagging and covering the face. Set the hairdryer at a warm-medium temperature and bring the diffuser very close to the fringe for 30-45 seconds. Turn off the hairdryer and dry the rest of your hair with the diffuser if you want. To prevent hair from becoming frizzy, leave it slightly damp and dry it only at 80%.
Step 6. Flaunt your perfect curly bangs
Method 2 of 2: Smooth Bangs
Step 1. Wash your hair
Apply the shampoo and rinse with warm (not hot) water. The hot water, in fact, opens the hair shaft (just like the pores of the skin) so it favors the absorption of the conditioner. Leave the conditioner on for at least five minutes and then rinse with cold water.
Step 2. Apply gel or mousse to protect your hair
The heat from the straightener can damage the hair. A good brand to use is Herbal Essence.
Step 3. Curl your hair
With a hair clip, put the bangs to the side to prevent it from curling; moreover, it is not recommended to smooth after applying the mousse.
Step 4. Blow dry your hair or dry it naturally
It is advisable to let your hair dry naturally if you have time.
Step 5. Smooth the bangs
Use the straightener to smooth your fringe, or, if you don't feel like it, use some bobby pins to pull it backwards!
Step 6. Try twisting or curling the ends of the bangs slightly with the straightener
This way, the bangs will look better with the rest of your beautiful curly hair.
Advice
- Try doing a French front braid or a small bun if you want to keep the bangs off your face.
- Smooth your hair to the side to make a tuft.
- When the fringe is dry, you can curl it to create a tuft while preventing it from going in front of the face.
- Keep some grease handy to style your bangs during the day, especially if it gets frizzy or tangled.
Warnings
- Smoothing the bangs every day damages the hair; remember to always use a product to protect your hair from heat and avoid always straightening it.
- If you use too much gel or mousse, you can create a "wet" look as if you just got out of the shower, or continue to curl your hair with your hands. In any case, remember that it is always better to use less product and possibly add it later.
- Use the diffuser to avoid frizz.
