Learn two different techniques for drawing Toothless from "How to Train Your Dragon": just follow the simple steps given below.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Toothless (Normal)
Step 1. Draw a medium sized circle at the top of the paper
Step 2. Draw an elongated (vertically oriented) oval so that it intersects with the circle
Step 3. Draw a couple of small ovals at the base of the larger oval
These must intersect it on both sides.
Step 4. Trace the outline of Toothless's front legs and wings
Step 5. Draw the guidelines of the face (a vertical line intersected by two horizontal lines to form a sort of two-armed cross)
This will help you position Toothless's eyes.
Step 6. Using the face guidelines, start drawing Toothless's eyes and nose (in this case, he's looking down)
Step 7. Draw the big ears and small horns on Toothless's head
Draw a dotted line in the center of the forehead towards the back of the head to give the impression of the scales of a lizard.
Step 8. Draw the front legs (with claws) of Toothless
Step 9. Draw the hind legs (with claws) of Toothless
Step 10. Trace the folded wings of Toothless
They must resemble those of a bat.
Step 11. Erase unnecessary lines
Step 12. Color the drawing to your liking
Note: Toothless's body is all dark gray.
Method 2 of 2: Toothless (Cartoon Version)
Step 1. Near the bottom and leftmost part of the sheet of paper, draw a large horizontal oval that will act as the head
Step 2. Draw a larger oval oriented diagonally (bottom left to top right), so that it intersects with the first oval
Step 3. Under the head and attached to the largest oval, draw two pine nut-shaped ovals that will act as front legs
Step 4. Draw an oblong shape which will be one of the hind legs
Draw guidelines for making Toothless wings.
Step 5. Draw the tail of Toothless, so that it protrudes from the back
On the tip, draw shapes similar to a fish's tail.
Step 6. On the head, draw the guidelines of the face (a vertical line intersected by two horizontal lines to form a kind of two-armed cross)
This will help you position Toothless's eyes.
Step 7. Start by tracing the outline of Toothless's head, along with the scaly forehead, long ears and horns
Also trace the front legs, not forgetting the claws.
Step 8. Using the face guidelines, draw Toothless's big cartoon eyes and two small nose holes
In the lower left part of the head, draw a small smile.
Step 9. Continue drawing the rest of the legs
Step 10. Start tracing the rest of the body, wings and tail details
Step 11. Erase unnecessary lines
Step 12. Color the drawing to your liking
Note: Toothless's body is all dark gray.
