Steps
Method 1 of 5: Wild Berry Flavored Popsicles
Berries are incredibly tasty and are good for your health. You can combine them with other fruit to create a different combination each time.
Step 1. Wash and prepare the fruit
Make sure the berries are perfectly clean. If you have chosen to use strawberries, remove the stems and cut them into small pieces.
Step 2. Make the sugar syrup
Pour the water and sugar into a saucepan. Heat the mixture over medium heat and stir constantly until the sugar has dissolved completely. At that point, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool.
- You can flavor the syrup with some mint leaves. Add them to the water, then remove them before using the syrup.
- If you don't feel like cooking, you can replace the syrup with a fruit juice of your choice.
Step 3. Blend the berries with the lemon juice
Pour them into the blender and blend them until you get a smooth puree. If you want whole pieces of fruit inside the popsicles, you can keep some berries aside and add them to the rest of the fruit after blending.
Step 4. Add 80ml of sugar syrup
You can increase the dose if you want the popsicles to taste even sweeter. If you don't want to overdo the sugar, you can replace the syrup with a naturally sweet fruit juice, such as grape or cranberry juice. Alternatively, you can use a lemon-flavored fizzy drink.
Step 5. Pour the mixture into the popsicle mold
The doses indicated are for 6 large popsicles. If you don't have a popsicle mold, you can use the ice cube mold: you'll get lots of mini popsicles!
Step 6. Place the popsicles in the freezer and wait for them to harden
Let them freeze for at least 3 hours or, preferably, overnight. Once ready, your popsicles will be excellent and wholesome.
Method 2 of 5: Chocolate Flavored Popsicles
These popsicles are perfect for satisfying your craving for chocolate during the hot summer months. You can't go wrong with this recipe; if you are missing one of the ingredients, you can replace it with what you have available in the pantry.
Step 1. Combine the water and milk in a bowl
You can use any type of milk for this recipe: whole, skim, goat, coconut, almond, and so on. Mix it with the water in a bowl.
For even creamier popsicles, replace the water with whole milk or cream (you can use half milk and half cream if you prefer)
Step 2. Add cocoa, sugar and vanilla
Pour the cocoa and sugar into the bowl and whisk until completely dissolved in the milk and water mixture, then add the vanilla extract.
- You can substitute honey, maple syrup, stevia, or another sweetener of your choice for sugar.
- If you don't like the flavor of vanilla you can use a different extract, for example mint or almond extract.
Step 3. Pour the mixture into the popsicle mold
Use the ice cube mold creatively if you don't have the popsicle mold.
Step 4. Put the popsicles in the freezer
Let them freeze for at least 3 hours or until they have completely solidified.
Method 3 of 5: Orange Flavored Popsicles
Very little effort is required to prepare this childhood classic. Your homemade orange popsicles will be even tastier than the originals.
Step 1. Obtain the zest of an orange
The bright orange color of these popsicles comes from the rind of the fruit. Use a vegetable peeler or a blade grater, such as the Microplane, and peel the orange until you have a tablespoon of zest.
Step 2. Blend the ice cream with the orange juice and zest
Put the ingredients in the blender and blend them until the consistency is smooth.
- You can replace orange juice with lemonade or grapefruit juice. Popsicles will be just as delicious.
- You can also use any sweetened carbonated drink. If you want to impress your guests, try using root beer.
Step 3. Pour the mixture into the popsicle mold
Step 4. Place the popsicles in the freezer and wait for them to harden
At least 3 hours must pass. Resist the temptation to eat them before they are completely frozen, or they will melt quickly.
Method 4 of 5: Coca-Cola Flavored Popsicles (or your favorite soda)
A can or two of Coca-Cola or your favorite soft drink is enough to make excellent popsicles. Be creative and use a drink suitable for drinking cold.
Step 1. Choose the type of drink
It will determine the taste of your popsicles. You can use Coca-Cola or any fizzy drink, lemonade, grapefruit juice or any beverage that tickles your fancy.
Step 2. Pour the soda into the popsicle mold
Fill each stencil almost to the brim. If you don't have a popsicle mold, you can use the one for ice or paper cups.
If you use the ice mold, you can use toothpicks instead of sticks. Put the cling film on the mold and insert 2 toothpicks in each mold, leaving a couple of millimeters between them
Step 3. Freeze the popsicles
It will take at least a couple of hours for them to freeze completely.
Step 4. Remove the mold from the freezer when the popsicles have hardened
When they are completely solid, remove the mold from the freezer. To remove popsicles from the mold, do not pull them from sticks or toothpicks. Push them out from the bottom in the same way you normally remove ice cubes from their mold.
Step 5. Serve and enjoy the popsicles
Return the leftover ones to the freezer and enjoy your delicious popsicle.
Method 5 of 5: Milkshake Flavored Popsicles
Step 1. Blend the ice cream with the milk
Put the ice cream and milk in the blender and blend them for about 5 seconds.
Step 2. Pour the pureed ice cream into the popsicle mold
Put the mold in the freezer and set 90 minutes on the kitchen timer.
Step 3. When the popsicles are ready, do not try to pull them out of the mold by pulling them by the stick
If you try to remove them in this way they will be ruined. Run some hot water over the mold for a few seconds, then gently pull out the popsicles. Enjoy your milkshake-flavored iced delight.
Advice
- You can use a preparation for a cold drink, for example the one for lemon iced tea. Follow the directions on the package and then pour it into the popsicle mold.
- Depending on the type of drink you used, you can add sugar or a sweetener of your choice, for example to counteract the sour taste of lemonade.
- Try using frozen yogurt. Follow the steps and use it as a substitute for a regular drink.
- You can actually use any type of drink, including sports and energizing ones.
- Serve the popsicles immediately.
Warnings
- Wash your hands thoroughly before and after handling food.
- Supervise the children as they eat their popsicles. Throw away the toothpicks as soon as they're done. The toothpicks are pointed and can be swallowed easily. If a child ingests any dangerous object, call the emergency medical service immediately.
- Always supervise the children in the kitchen. Do not allow them to handle sharp, hot or heavy objects.
