Even though your karma points on Reddit increase every time users rate your content, accumulating negative ratings can ruin all your hard work. This article describes how to quickly collect a lot of karma on Reddit by sharing creative, relevant and engaging posts and comments on the right pages.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Get More Karma with Posts
Step 1. Choose an attention-grabbing title
Your title should entice Reddit users to click on the post to find out more. Don't use deceptive titles (also known as click-baits) that don't deliver on their promises. Usually those who use that strategy receive a lot of negative evaluations.
Step 2. Publish the latest news as soon as possible
If you follow on popular social media, you will get the freshest news. Sharing a news story on a relevant subreddit first should generate a conversation and, consequently, positive ratings.
Step 3. Share links of newly released TV or movie trailers
The first user who shares trailers on r / videos, r / movies or r / television often inspires responses from the community. You can also post trailers on non-media related subreddits that deal with related topics; for example, share a clip of a new documentary about the Seattle group on r / Nirvana.
Step 4. Post images and videos to / r / pics and / r / videos
Re-posting photos and videos that went viral a year ago or earlier will grab the attention of new users and the nostalgia of veterans.
Step 5. Post links or content on less popular subreddits
On less frequented subreddits, you have less competition. This is why your post is more likely to reach the front page (and stay there).
Step 6. Post questions on / r / AskReddit
A creative, funny, or sobering question can generate hundreds of positive responses and ratings.
- Give a positive rating to users who answer the question or other comments.
- Responding to comments allows you to earn more karma. Respond to funny comments with witty and brilliant phrases, to serious ones with kindness and compassion.
Method 2 of 2: Get More Karma with Comments
Step 1. Post comments that are relevant and add something to the discussion
Remember, the goal is to encourage other users to rate your comments positively. Arguing can attract negative ratings, reducing your overall karma and commentary scores.
Step 2. Comment on the subreddits with the highest number of subscribers
You can find them at / r / popular. Once you find a subreddit that seems very popular, check the number of total and active subscribers in the top right corner of the page. Commenting on the most used pages allows you to attract more attention than doing it on less active forums.
- Subreddits like / r / AskReddit and / r / relationships are great for giving sobering answers to other users' questions.
- Try asking creative or funny questions in / r / IamA (Ask Me Anything, ask me anything) to famous or otherwise important people.
Step 3. Comment and rate discussions on a subreddit's New page
Do it on the most recent posts that you think might go viral or on the latest news. Being among the first to participate in those discussions gives your comments more exposure, increasing the likelihood that they will be among the top rated.
Step 4. Reply to threads on the Hot page
You will find this tab at the top of Reddit once you are logged in with your account. Shown here are the most active discussions of the subreddits you have subscribed to. Since many users participate in those discussions, your comments will be read by many people.
Step 5. Comment with funny and relevant GIFs

Advice
- Be patient. If you are going to be a prolific and respectful user you should quickly earn karma.
- The numbers of positive and negative ratings are expressed in an approximate way by Reddit, to avoid the action of spam bots. This does not affect your karma score.
